I like everyone's opinion on here. Everything you guys mentioned makes sense on here. Hopefully Cedar Point is reading this topic.
A day in the life of the coaster conspiracy theorist....
"I can't ride maxAir! It was closed for two hours today without an explanation! What must be wrong with it?"... "Drive on 250? Are you mad? It was closed for a whole week for "construction"--how do we know what was really going on?"... "Eat at Happy Friar?!? There was a witness who saw them undercook an order of fries! The park has failed to put out a press release to let the public know the truth!"
I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.
Guys, Cedar Point closes every winter, how do we know this isn't because there is a problem with the entire park at the end of each summer, we shouldn't keep going because there are no reports sent out...
They close the park every winter because attendance really drops off because all the Fanboys are attending the Star Trek and ComiCon conventions that time of year.
Actually, they close because the new Call of Duty comes out every year at that time and everyone is busy playing that.
I just want an update of the progress and a statement confirming Shoot the Rapids will open. Something please! I have confidence it will open too.
Tony said in his Twitter Q&A that it was not being removed, so it will run again.
Are you losing sleep over this?
Let's Get Weird.
If I have the nightmare that it quietly reopened, people rode it, and it malfunctioned again. That would likely keep me awake.

No, I'm sleeping good actually...lol. I saw that too a while back, but I guess I wanted to see testing progress towards the end of the season but that never happened. I'm sure after this weekend though, they'll inspect every boat like they do the roller coaster trains. Was it a matter of them not being able to reopen the ride due to state inspections? Is that a possible reason why it never opened back up?
There is most definitely a reason. But it's something we probably don't need to know. Everything after the incident has happened for a reason. Perhaps the modifications required to run it again are going to take time and they didn't feel it was necessary to run it late in the year. It's hard to say and even harder to speculate. But I'm sure their decisions have been more than justifiable.
But again, it's most likely nothing you "need" to know.

^Good point Adam! Now that I think about it, they probably will just do the Winter check up on it starting after this weekend and then we'll know more come April. I know Cedar Point opens in May, but rides start testing in April. The way you put it will help me to not worry about it so much and enjoy what I can of my off-season. :)
I fully expected them to just table the ride until next year and let it go through a regular off-season of tests/inspections after correcting whatever problem was there. The boats may have been needed to be modified, the lift, the chain....something is probably in store for the winter months in terms of rehab for it.
