Will You Ride It?

Just pretend that it's Junior Gemini.
I think most of us in this forum are already riding mentally. I am.. I think those who are talking about the 30 second thing. are far away and jealous. or just scared... However, I think everyone who is doubting should think of what this ride IS and not what this ride IS NOT..

Another masterpiece for cedarpoint.

Just the track, the wind, and the speed.

I'm 37 and never thought of not riding it never entered my mind. I might be shaking in line, but not from fear, but excitement.
Without a doubt, I'll be on it.

Once I conquered Magnum, I've had no fear fo coasters. I admit to being nervous when getting onto Magnum and Deja Vu the first time, but definitely not fearful.

At age 49, riding these monsters is even MORE of a thrill for me. You'd better not wimp out on me, Mr. Scott!! You don't want to be "shown up" by an old lady now, do you?

I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead

Ooo, showdown......

Along with OldCPer, once I rode Magnum, I really didn't have any fears of coasters anymore.

Aww.....Florida! But That's America's Wang

Fear? It's not fear of riding it. It's absolute terror... not a big fan of straight vertical rides. Me and PT aren't exactly good friends either. I only ride it because my sweetie loves it. I will ride the damn thing though because I'm like any other CP fan who will ride whatever they decide to build and I'm sure it will be incredible.
Better have an EMS team there waiting for me!

I stopped breathing for a moment sitting in the train for MF but I fell in love with that ride and the day seems incomplete if I don't get to go on it for some reason.

It took me half of last season before I'd ride Millie. Maggie used to be my limit, and it was even a bit uncomfortable of a ride. After my first ride on Millie, I was undecided about whether or not I would ride it again. Since I was with a Millie freak, I ended up riding it again. Since then it's the number 2 or 3 coaster in the park for me (depending on the time of the season and how many times I've ridden it). I am all excited about Dragster, but I have to admit, I'll probably spend my time (on opening day) looking up at the top hat wondering what I'm doing there in line. I am sure that I will love it as much as I do Millie, but my first loyalty will always be to Raptor. :-)

My need for speed is second only to my need to be inverted! No wonder Raptor is my favorite!

Raptor is my favorite too. It's such a cool, fun ride. I love upside-down stuff like that.

With "Depends" in hand I will definitely ride TTD :) I know of a few CP buds who will be right there with me too! :) The 1st ride will no doubt be the most terrifying but the thrill and the rush will rock! As with MF and WT I am hoping for enough laps in by OD I can spend the rest of the season working on my 1k Raptor flights :)

It's all about getting around the barrels, or over the fences, right leads, no faults, fastest time and looking pretty when done. What's so hard about that? :)

I will no doubt ride dragster, I have to admit i am REALLY REALLY terrified of the ride. But that wont stop me from getting on and riding.

Oh, I am totally with you on PT. I have flat-out refused to EVER ride the drop side again. I will ride the other side, however. (Guess I'm just weird that way!) For whatever reason, being at extreme heights while MOVING is OK. Being made to hover for what feels like an eternity at the top of PT is NOT.

I like the launch up side better than the down.

I disagree. I think that the drop side builds up a lot more anticipation and generates more adrenaline. There's just something about being up that high in the air, exposed, that gives me an eerie feeling.

With the shot side, it's more like a really fast elevator. I won't ride the shot side unless there is literally no wait.

I just can't wait for CP to install the retrofitted cars so that we can drop while laying forward, instead of just sitting up. :)

What is most anticipated event of 2003? the debut of Dragster, the release of Metallica's new album, the release of Terminator 3, or the release of Matrix:Reloaded...tough call.

The down side is AMAZING on the PT....i enjoy it alot more than the space shot side. I love sitting up there waiting for when it will release the car.

I am afraid of alot of coaster, But that doesnt stop me from riding...I can be dieing of fear and i will still ride. Unless i'm dead lol. I know i will love the ride.

Yea, i saw those Retrofitted cars. I didnt know that CP was going to install them.

Retrofitted cars? Are you just making this up or are you serious?

The drop side is far worse. I'll ride the up side too (only when forced to do so)

kmn4: It makes sense about handling heights while in motion. That's fine with me too because Magnum and MF are fine. I've been meaning to ask you since I saw another post of yours; where are you from? I read something you wrote about "Kiddie Park" and it was kinda funny because that's probably the place that started it all for me!

The Beast cured me of my fear of coasters back in 87 or 88. Prior to that, I was scared of the Sea Dragon at Wyandot Lake. Yeah, I was a little mamas-boy back in the day.

Will I ride Dragster...... Oh hell yes!!!

There was an article posted here a while back about what the folks at S&S are up to. In that, they mentioned they have made a prototype for retrofited seats for their tower rides that will rotate forward about 50-60 degrees so you are looking down.
Anyway, back on topic, I will definately ride TTD. It has the two most important elements of a coaster (to me anyways), height and speed! I'm not going to be scared to ride it, not after riding Magnum in 1989 when I was 4 with my hands up the whole way. Although I would imagine the pent up anticipation and excitement will have my stomach in knots once I'm about to board the train.

"If you're standing in an uncomfortable position, that means you are in the right position because you are riding Mantis!" - Mantis ride op doing spiels on closing day.

Top Thrill: Either on Screamscape or the S&S website itself, there were pictures of S&S seats that were capable of tilting, similar to a few Intamin Giant Drops. The only difference is that the Intamin seats tilt around 15* out, and the S&S seats are reported to tilt around 60* !

Dragster... I'm definitely on board, although I know I'll be holding on for dear life on my first ride :)
