From the pictures, it looks like Xcelerator has 2 rows of seats in the front car. Dragster has only one. So the riders in the front row are further from the front end of the train. Does that change the analysis in terms of risk of injury to the riders?
The train design is still different. Dragster is more sleek with the nose.

If anything, the lower-profile nose would seem to offer less protection. However, combined with the fact that those in the front are 1 row further away from the leading edge of the train, perhaps those two characteristics cancel one another out.

It's a simple fix really. Just trade Magnum's trains with Dragster's. The windshield on Magnum's front car will provide sufficient protection.
Bing bang boom next question.
Wouldn't it all depend on where the cable break occurred? The cable isn't short after all, especially on dragster.

The cable length is a very important point! Imagine if it broke yards away from the catch car. If a failure such as that occurred, it would then become a very Deadly Whip to more riders seated even further back than the front seat...
Put that one on Roller Coaster Tycoon...
CP might took a closer look at the cable on TTD during the inspection after the Knott's accident. I know that CF shut down the drop towers at all the parks that had them for a short time due to the SFKK drop tower accident. CF then opened them back up after it was said that SFKK was at fault. CF closed them due to SFKK trying to blame Intamin for the cable break.
