Will there ever be another large-scale coaster?

Yeah, I should have clarified my post a little more, Schwabinchen would have been torn down at any rate had TTD not been built because of reasons I stated before, but yes, it fit with TTD being built, but I have a feeling that Schwabinchen was not the first location considered for Chaos..

anyone ever notice how the front right side of the parking lot (infront of DT) isnt even with the park entrance? maybe they could just slide a ride in that spot of the parking lot? maybe a few... like a water ride under a giant coaster... there is quite alot of room in that area... im betting most or all of a ride the size of meanstreak could fit

This doesn't completely go with the topic, but I think another reason that they remove rides is simply because replacement parts, ect. stop being made, so when they break or wear down you can't fix 'em. I don't think this was the case with Schwabinchen, but with some rides that are removed I'm sure it is.

I really don't see the problem with putting a steel coaster back in Frontier Town. Part of MF's course runs along the Frontier Trail, and despite the roar of a train every now and then it still has the same atmoshpere. The only thing that could pose a problem is the queue with the DJ's and such, but that could easily be solved by having it isolated like many of CP's other rides. I don't think Frontier Town is going to be "ruined" if they do decide to add a more modern type of attraction there.

I back up your argument with this: who says modern has to be this big ugly steel thing? They could pull off a frontier type of coaster without it really taking anything away from....oh, wait, that would require themeing, perhaps that's not such a good idea...

Or, and I'm being extreme here, why not rebuild mine ride? How does Mine Ride compare with Disaster Transport anyways??

Slighly off topic, but speaking of putting a Thrill Ride in Frontier Town, I think a "Gravaton" or "Top Spin" (depending on if you play RCT1 or RCT2) would go great back there somewhere. They have one at Six Flags Fiesta Texas that is all done in faux wood-grain, so it would fit right into the woodsy area.

I also think that over the next few years, you'll see other things taken out that have lost popularity or that just aren't the draws they once were. The space where the Pirate Ride was will be used by something. Oceana will be removed. The place where the Cedar Point Cinema used to be can be reclaimed for a ride as well.

And look at TTD. TTD is huge. If you look at the pre-TTD maps, you'd wonder how you'd put in a 420 foot coaster that is that LONG. But shuffle a few things around and voila. There looks to be a large area between Gemini and Mean Streak that is currently "outside" the park that could possibly be put to use with a little smart relocation.

I'd really hate to see them lose or destroy the ambience of Frontier Village. It's a great place to go to cool off, slow down, and catch some quiet. It's just a very enjoyable place, and something I hope Cedar Point never loses.

I don't think they have any place to put in a new "Mean Streak" without taking anything else out either, quite frankly... but then again I think they should just take out Mean Streak and put in a better Woodie... a dueling twister maybe, or just a good, long, intense Intimin woodie. Or maybe just a Shivering Timbers type air-time monster that runs along the north side of the parking lot, called the "Silver Streak" ;-)

I do hope to see another 2:30+ minute coaster go in someday. And I'm sure it'll happen.

A 1500 foot ride? Someone up there said it. I know I have the mantra that you never say never but come on. There is no way it could be a launched ride b/c the force needed to get you up would be too hard on your body.

A traditional lift would take up a ton of space that few, if any parks in the country, could accommodate.

Hey, jump out of a plane if you want an experience like that.

I think with Cedar Point building a water park near Radisson they mave take out the Soak City portion, and have water park off the point and that may give them some more room for park expansion in the back of the park.
What i would hope is CP lay low for a while, add some awsome flat rides, mabe a new concept in flat ride, and then let someone else take the world record for(put record here) and then just come back and SLAM em, totally amaze the public with an awsome rollercoaster that would make you go wow

yeah, they really did that when japan beat out mf by those couple few feet.

Cedar Point will keep expanding as nessacary, whether it means off-peninsula parking, or even building rides off of the point..its still going to happen! Millennium Force, TTD, and Magnum all take up virtually no space, not taking a whole lot from the park.

Haha...yes, I mentioned the possible new height record as 1,500 feet in the distant future. While it was a statement to make a point, I think it's very realistic.

I've read through roller coaster history where the tallest coaster was at an amazing 15 feet and 4mph. Talk to those people and say, "By the way, there's going to be a roller coaster at 420 feet and 120mph in the future." I think they'd have similar reactions to Chief Wahoo.

I'm waiting for the day where someone builds a coaster down a massive building or down a mountain. Who says that launching and lift hills will be the only alternatives?

theres this plan for the stratosphere to have a ride falling down the side of the building, but that probably wont happen.

yeah its called someone cutting the elevator cable,

only bad part about that is the ride is only good once, and then they have to close it for 3 months for repairs

I imagine a community or the FAA might have something to say about a 1,500 ft rollercoaster. If it wasn't going to be launched or have a lift hill then I am not sure how else you might imagine you would get a "car" to the top. Maybe we will be able to levitate them up by then.

LOL at Jeremy's post, and yes, there was a ride planned for the Las Vegas area I believe? But the kind resident shot it down, and I have to agree with them..

The ride in Vegas was to be built on the side of the Stratosphere Tower and would have been an Arrow Fish Hook. More drop ride than coaster if you ask me. I think the height would have been around 700 feet.

Residents put the big slammy on that one though.

Why not have a cable lift that pulls it up like Demon Drop or something? It would get it up really fast, and they could have it go like 25mph or so.

ooooooooooooo. 1500 foot demon drop.... talk about a "bang" at the end!

dragster............. 54! HA j/k BIG FAT 0!

I just thought about a coaster. It starts right next to Wicked Twister, it shoots out of the station into a turn that goes over the entrince doing a 500 ft. top hat and come down on the other side. After that it would zoom inbetween MF, Dragster, and MS with lots of turns and twists with barol rolls every now and then. After going through MS it would turn in the parking lot through Gemini and Magnum. Then into the record brakeing loop that is on the midway into a final turn in the brake run and bake into the staion.

I would draw this on a map but I only have one.
