I know this was talked about in a topic on here a while ago, but the latest Funtimes e-newsletter mentions that there is now wi-fi access available in Doughnut Time.

Speaking of online activity, you can now surf the web or check your email for free at the Best Amusement Park In The World in our new Cyber Café, provided by AT&T. Wi-fi access is available if you've brought your own laptop, or you can sit down at one of four terminals designated for public use. The Cyber Café is located in Donut Time, the little shop near the Cedar Point Main Gate that sells sinfully delicious donuts, brownies and cookies, as well as Starbucks® coffee. What better to go along with your session on the Internet?
And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun
They ought to do it in the resorts since like 75% of the non-resort hotels in America already have. I know - you're on vacation, but sometimes during the rain or late at night, there's some downtime to get online.
Does anyone (media day excluded) really bring their laptop into the park?

That's what I was wondering, it seems like kind of a hassle, no?
-Eric
With the exception of media events, I never have. Though I could see myself bringing it in after a morning with the camera and working on photos. I suspect that the number of people who would think like me and do that, though, is low. :)

Well that does make it convenient, for you, lol. If I lived closer and had a season pass, I'd do that from time to time I guess. But on my one yearly trip, there's just no time. That's cool they are accommodating a wide range of guests by adding the Wi-fi.
-Eric
Looks like it came sooner than I expected it too, a little more than a month after I overheard the conversation in Donut Time. Walt, did you know it was coming this soon?

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
you don't have to have a laptop to use wi-fi. lots of mobile phones/pda's now have wi-fi ability in them. granted, if you have a device like that, you most likely have a data plan and don't need the wi-fi network. but, i guess its nice to have the option. it'd be nice if you worked there and wanted to hang out in the park rather than in your room.
the other option would be the family that has a parent which needs the access to get access to the office. family can ride, and parent can take a break and do some work. that's better than not going on vacation at all i guess. :shruggs:

I first heard about it right before the season started, but I didn't know what the timetable was.
I saw the technicians finishing up the installation the other day. I just hope the park doesn't turn into an outdoor office space.

This is a nice idea, as I'm sure many people on vacation will appreciate the easy ability to check their work e-mail etc. However, I'm not sure anyone would bring their laptop into the park. It does seem like a big hassle, and I can see some people setting it down for a moment and then finding out its been stolen. It seems like adding wi-fi into the hotels would be a better option.
Thrills Around the Corner!
Well, I think it's pretty cool. Having a season pass, there are days when i go to the park just to hang out enjoy the atmosphere and get some pictures.
Of course, I usualy get in at least a ride or 2. But with my combo season pass / parking pass, it's not like I wasted any money if for some reason I didn't ride anything. Since I work long hours (at work now) I don't get a lot of time to spend on the pc and It would be somewhat relaxing knowing that I could surf the net, take some pics, rided a few rides, and enjoy a donut all in the same place. :) But maybe that's just me.

that means we expect more photo updates from you, doug. :) just kidding man - your updates are awesome!!
I wish they had it in the hotels, and if they were really adventurous, in Lighthouse Point. :) I hate to say it, but when I stay for a weekend in the fall, it sure is nice to retreat and connect for a little while.

...............Cedar Point HAS TO get wireless already.
You can get wireless in any dump motel next to a stripp joint in Port St. Lucie Florida for gods sake ....but you can't get it at Cedar Point.
I know they build great coasters...but seriously enough already...it doesn't take much to get the POINT totally wireless...

Yeah, it would be neat at the hotels...and if Lighthouse Point ever got it, I would so book my next trip there. It's already tempting enough, but with a wireless connection? Too cool. It's nice to put our laptops to work!
