I just had a quick thought about all this silly conspiracy talk. I don't think it was Cedar Fair's goal to close Geauga Lake, but I do think it may have been planned for in their contingency plan. If the park was doing bad, I'm sure they had a million ideas to save it, but if those didn't work, I would say it would be smart to have a plan dealing with that outcome to.
I'm pretty sure that Dominator is going to Kings Dominion. Don't quote me on that but thats what I have been hearing.

Gomez, I realize that was a long time ago. The point is (no pun intended there!) the park has aquired attractions from other parks. Image has nothing to do with installing a ride that was previously used somewhere else.

^ - actually they do....but CP isn't getting a hand me down.
You don't think they take hand me downs?
Look at Wave Swinger...I remember when that ride was "new" to Cedar Point. The chains were so rusted and you could see the rust through the slip covers. The next season they oiled the chains and put black slip covers on, to cover the rust.
They've taken other hand me downs, too. That was just one example.
Just because the park is different now as you say, there isn't some rule that says it can't set up a ride that previously operated at another park. Why is it okay for other CF parks to get a used ride?

All of those other parks get used rides more often. CP hasn't got a used ride in years. Besides, CP is just such a major park and is known as coming out with cool new ideas for new rides.
Thats right, look at TTD, maxair, maverick, wicked twister. They are all so unique!

How many people can name a previously used roller coaster on here that is operating now at Cedar Point? None. As CPboy said, CP is known for coming out with new ideas for rides.

I'm sorry, what makes Maxair unique?

Water is involved
R.I.P: The Mayor, Mr. Scott
Maverick is the only real unique ride CP has done in a long time. Most of the time they go with the usual "tallest, fastest, and steepest" by taking an idea from another park and putting it on steroids.

TTD is unique, but then KK copied, Wicked Twister is pretty unique, Disaster Tranport is in its own way, and also Skyhawk is pretty different.
TTD is an over-sized launch coaster, WT is an over-sized SFWoA/GL Superman w/ two twists, DT is nothing more than an enclosed bobsled coaster, and Skyhawk is a oversized version of its kind.
- Uncle Jay
DT is unique cuz it's sooo ugly.
Maxair and skyhawk are awesome oversized swing sets.
Derby downs was a hand me down ride from Euclid Beach park.
WT is way better than the other regular impulse coasters out there.
DT is unique because no other ride on earth is even close to that boring and stupid.
MS is very unique too... what other "Top 10" woodie is hated by most of its fans?!
384 MF laps
Smoking Area Drone Pilot
My guesses/hopes:
Big Dipper - stay. The old waterpark becomes the new parking lot (like it was back in the day) and any land between the coaster and the lake becomes part of waterpark. maybe move flat rides in there and keep kid's area?
Double Loop - scrap - not worth moving
RWB - scrap - i like that ride, hate to see it go, but I doubt it's worth moving financially
Villian - scrap, maybe Great America
BLMR - Worlds of Fun - part of Camp Snoopy - currently a big grassy field there that seems perfect
Dominator - KD
Headspin - Carowinds
TH - MiA, duh; Steel Venom - Dorney, duh
main gate building and fountain- CP
Sky scraper - MA or VF
Power city buildings - MA
kid zone - CP replace kiddy kingdom
Any midway buildings would be a great addition to MA. I am hoping that some of the infrastructure will be relocated to MA as they need the atmosphere. It just doesn't feel like a typical amusement park. It needs atmosphere like the Coney Mall at KI. Buildings are nice but not easily moved. The contents, ie: food svc equipment, lockers, games and etc would be less costly to move and help improve things in any of the parks that need them. MA needs a solid midway to get the feel of the amusement park. It is too wide open and you get that empty feeling on the amusement side.

Blue people fly sideways when it rains
it would be nice if they could keep some rides like mentioned above (kidworks area) but that would mean keeping the floating bridge and that just doesnt make sense.
I think it will be a long time (if ever) we see rides again at GL.
