Blue Streak was my first wooden coaster...I still think it is one of the best on the east coast. I rode Mean Streak a few years ago and it is too rough for me. My back was hurting for a couple of days after riding it. Maybe I am getting too old for woodies...lol!

Hey Josh - Have you ever ridden The Voyage? I hear its great!!
Whatever Mr. "I'm never going to Holiday World because they only have 3 roller coasters." :)
ha ha ha ha ha!! I didn't quite say that. I'm seeing if I can work them into my 2007 Ohio trip. They're just really far from CP to make happen in a long weekend. When you don't live in Ohio anymore, you have to compromise. I watched their videos this morning and emailed my friend to see if he wanted to try and work HW into our trip. I just don't know if its possible.
Make the trip to HW. It'll change your perspective on wood.
As far as Timbers goes, the single best ride I've ever had on any coaster was on it at TimbersFest three or four years ago. It's weird, because it ran good all night, but towards the end it just broke loose. When the thing is running right, it really is that good. But, it's a moody one, that's for sure. And too much hype set the expectation meter too high for many to ride it objectively.
To being an "us" for once - instead of a "them"
RWB and BS need a good paint job. When I was at GL last weekend I saw that RWB was flaking significantly. While I do understand they are both old coasters, I feel that CF should put the money into painting to making them look better, i.e. more appealing to guests.
I can't believe all the bad talk about Shivering Timbers... I think the thing is fun as hell. I get awesome airtime everytime i ride it. Unlike most woodies... I sit in the front on Shivering Timbers, and it works out good. I seriously think it's some of the best air time that I have ever had on a coaster.
Of course, it will never compare to Voyage... but I would have to say Shivering Timbers is prolly in my 4th or 5th spot for woodies.
1336.5? I don't get it.

Ride On Mr. Scott!
I'll say it again. I hated Shivering Timbers.
I mean, it was kind of fun, I guess. I much prefer wooden coasters with laterals, and a seriously out-of-control feeling. #1 reason why I prefer Knoebel's Twister to Phoenix.
So because you prefer other rides that makes you hate ST? Great logic going on there. I prefer MF to TTD, so I must hate TTD. If you hate rides that you think are fun, you should really consider to stop going to amusement parks altogether.

I prefer lots of stuff to TTD, that doesn't stop me from hating it. ;)
I don't think there's a ride out there that I HATE, but there are quite a few that I dislike passionately. None of them coasters though.

Mean Streak really is in pretty good shape. It just sucks as a ride and has an uninteresting layout. There's nothing more to fix.Raging Wolf Bobs is another example of how much better a ride can get. It's not a great layout, but it certainly is more fun now that it has been cleaned up. Last time I ran into Bill Spehn, he mentioned that Villain was next this winter.
That is good news, Jeff. I hope it goes as well for the Villain as it has for Raging Wolf Bobs. Villain is a good coaster and repairs could make it a great coaster.

Actually, what I meant when I said I hated ST, was that I hated ST.
I don't think I can get any clearer than that, but thanks for trying to play the "a-hole" card.
Don't be a jerk, e x i t. The guy was just trying to get inside your head. Don't play the "you don't know me" card.

Someone could post, "what's everyone's favorite restroom," and there would be 50 replies.
Coliseum, off the main midway.
MOO!!!
On the other hand, the restroom next to Gemini has terrific atmosphere. Plus it has about the most nearby exterior seating for anybody waiting.

3 pages without a "maintain wood" joke? Any takers? Anyone?

I'm afraid to ask what makes for good atmosphere in a restroom...
Possibly no space...nevermind, I won't touch that topic with a ten foot pole.
Blue Streak crew 2007

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
Closed topic.
