Who IS Mean Streak Henry?

Speaking of schadenfreude, here's the song by that name from Avenue Q. Enjoy. (Not safe for work.)

I'm a Marxist, of the Groucho sort.

Ha! Thanks noggin, and now I can pronounce it lol.

As someone active in the Detroit convention scene, I can say that Tron Man in person is even more...interesting than in photos. And not in a good way :P

I enjoy getting the last train of the season on Blue Streak once in a while but I had no interest in the last train on Mean Streak. Why miss the last rites, funeral procession and burial just for bragging rights? I can understand it would have been nice for Henry to have the last train out but for anyone to expect another person to give up their last ride just so he can be on the last train is ridiculous.

I agree. I would have liked one last ride, but as the line was long enough to run past the ceremony, I decided to skip it. I was more interested in the theatrical event anyways.

TTD Ron is a douche. My girlfriend and I were waiting for deadweight at Dragster one night, and were first in line for it. Fortunately enough, there were only 2 available seats for the last train of the night. He tried pushing through my girlfriend and I to get on that last ride until I turned around and not so politely told him not to touch me or her. Then he complained to a ride op as if his "entitlement" mattered more than the "first come, first serve" rule like everything else. The ride op basically told him there was nothing they could do about it. Needless to say, that last ride was one of the most enjoyable rides ever on Dragster

Ralph and I were waiting at the entrance of TTD to start back up after a breakdown,Ralph was 1st,I was 2nd,Ron was 3rd. Ralph is a slow walker(age) so I had to walk at Ralph's pace. Ron tried to push thru us in the walkway from the entrance to the platform. I resisted his push, turned around and gave him a threatening look and then he walked normally behind us.

I personally don't like being touched by people I don't know. Especially when they're trying to use force. Like what is the big hurry for them? Geeze oh man.

I'd like to point out that after the "official final train" rolled into the station and everyone got out, there was one additional final train that went out. This train consisted of Mean Streak Henry and some crew members. Pegkeeper and another unshowered gentleman were standing on the exit ramp (where I was). I'm not sure what Tony Clark looks like, but he might have been the one dispatching the train.

It was one of the rides managers that dispatched the final train, not Tony.

the couple behind me literally howled and complained with non-library voices at no one in particular

I've read this sentence 5 times and laughed out loud each time.

I thought this sentence was also fantastic. I can close my eyes and picture exactly what is happening. It's the same situation you see with a child or parent who is deeply concerned about making sure they will "be on the same train together" multiplied by 1,000.

I've seen many hilarious situations for maneuvering to get the last train of the day.

Back in the 2000s' on MF,for once instance,a train(that I was on) at the end of the day was filled except for 2 seats. There were 3 'single riders' on the platform and none of them wanted to get on as the remaining person would get the last train. Security was called,2 got on and then it was announced the filled train WAS the last train. The one person that wouldn't get on,because of his attitude, got screwed.

Similar occurrences on TTD too. Worst I seen was 4 security guards had to go to the boarding side of the platform as the people that wouldn't board were leaning against the back rail. The LAST unfilled train of the day left without them. Back then, the 'dead weight' area had not come into existence yet.

Pardon my ignorance, but what is this "dead weight" area on dragster? I've never heard of it.

It's the handicap exit ramp. People near the end of the night wait there hoping they need to fill seats on the last trains.

The top of the handicap ramp just outside the platform gate. Many times I've gotten a last ride from there, many times I haven't.

"Dead weight!" That is an insult to handicapped. If this is an official term used by the park and its employees--shame on them. The only "dead weight" I see, in the people using this term, is in their head.

How is it an insult to the handicapped when it's referring to the people using the ramp as a waiting area?

Kevinj's avatar

It's not insulting at all; I really don't see the connection either. First of all, I had no idea people ever even did this. It's the same ramp we have to use for Parent Swap. By "dead-weight" they are simply referring to bodies that can fill a train.

Although as a parent there are some days when I certainly feel like dead weight. Hence, there is wine.

It sounds like the term refers to people that get a last ride just because they need their weight to even out a train and if that's the case how is it an insult to the handicapped? The only way this relates to the handicapped is that the dead weight people hang around by the handicapped exit waiting to be needed.
