Who is going to Coaster Mania?

I personally didn't witness any incidents or bad behavior, but anytime you get that many people together, you will always come across people who feel like they deserve more and are entitled to special treatment.

Actually, I see that behavior just about every time I go to the park. Line jumping, smoking in non-designated areas...etc.

Yep, it just comes with large crowds.

When we got in line around 6:30a, a group of three was walking out of Guest Services upset because the required registration wasn't made widely known and they wouldn't be able to attend. I saw those three people at lunch at Lakeside Pavilion. I'm guessing they threw a big enough fit and got it.

Not sure if you were confusing my group of three. Around that time we had issues getting in the event. I registered us through my smartphone and was given a QR code for each of us. Unfortunately Tony explained that we needed the paper ticket printed out, we had to go over to the season pass center to get our tickets printed. They misunderstood what needed to be printed so we had to go back to guest services. I was able to give them my order number and they found the order and printed the tickets.

A minor annoyance, but able to get in. Granted, I could see one person in my group being very vocal about the annoyance and it being confused as being refused entry. The rest of the event was flat out amazing! So glad they limited attendees and made it a paid event. I really, really hope that nobody screwed this up for future events.

well good to hear you guys had fun. but now I'll find out they'll raise it to $50 next year.....2014 was my best coaster mania due to the cruise, free registration, the best weather, and blue streak's 50th. (those cookies)

The registration fee was clearly necessary to stop people from taking advantage of the event.

This also seems to have another great side effect: It seems that people that actually pay money for something tend to appreciate it more, and ironically have less of an entitlement attitude.

Hopefully they follow suit on all events like this, even if its a charitable contribution. This company and it's employees work hard to provide these events and it doesn't need to, they should be respected and appreciated.

Pete's absolutely right. Which is why most of the time I don't attend most enthusiast events. I usually go to the park during, but I don't want lumped into the general group that they get associated with. Not all the eggs are bad, but enough are, and it's a shame.

I didn't experience any complaining this year. No entitlements, no whining, it was a great time. Love the shirt, enjoyed the cruise... TTD was open for ERT for the first time since 2013... I expected the entitled guests to not attend due to the cost, or know coming into the event what they were getting and I think that's exactly what happened.

I think $30 was about the right price. Good to hear there were little, if any mishaps other than the woman who threw a fit on MF. My favorite part was the cruise. Here is one of the videos I took on it:

Lol! we were on the same ride. I was sitting in the middle row first seat on the right. It was a great trip on the Jet Express. All four of us in the middle section have boats in the marina, it was nice to let someone else do the driving.

Definitely wasn't you HeyIsntThatRob?. This group hadn't registered and admitted that. I saw a lot of groups who hadn't printed tickets but no one throwing fits and the park remedied that quick.

We talked about what price we WOULDN'T pay for this event and agreed that it was worth up to $100. I'd much rather experience Coastermania than buy a fastlane.

Another thing I noticed were far fewer and children. I love my daughter and she is a 100% trooper for this event but other kids definitely aren't.

Forgot to mention earlier that I picked up Dick Kinzel's Biography and of course got to say Hi to him and meet the author, Tim O'Brien, on the way out of the pavillion after lunch during Coastermania.

Haven't read all the book yet but as those that have already read it know, it's an interesting read. learned quite a bit already that I didn't know previously. He's always been a fascinating guy to talk to.

Wouldn't bother me at all if they raised it- or limited it to fewer people. I've been going since 1996 ( missed a few) and this was one of the best! Loved the cruise, and it was nice to say " hi" to Dick Kinzel and Tim O'Brien. Haven't read the book yet, but looking forward to it.

I thought the number of attendees was right on. No issues during check-in, very little waits during ERT, lunch was smooth, and the jet express schedule worked on time. Overall, there is probably a little tweaking to do for next year, but no major overhaul is needed like was needed after last year's event.

There was some kid running around in the first Q&A presentation. It was annoying the heck out of me. And Tony didn't look very happy. I think he was about to kick them out. If your kids can't behave themselves, please don't bring them into the presentation.
