Which will you head to first? Millenium Force or M

I see a lot of people talking about camping out at the gate the night before. WARNING: If you try this your going to be camping out in jail waiting not for MF, but a family member to release you.

What are you talking about? They aren't even going to let you past the toll booth the night before.

It's not what I'm talking about, it's what everyone else is talking about.

I never saw anyone else talking about that.

At any rate, Dan is right. However, that probably only goes for opening day. By the time I get to CP in June, I can't see where I won't be able to be one of only a handful of people who go to the marina gate rather than the main.

IMHO regardless of where you enter the park, Front gate or marina or Challenge park enterance there will be arush of people BUT I still believe the wait will still be lessened as opposed to when the ride gets going full swing in the middle of the day or even late morning..It will be 3 plus hrs by then as versus 1.5 to 2 hrs first thing!!

I will still try my hand at the Marina gate..

Sure, there will be a rush of people. But if you're coming from the Marina gate, you've got that big a head start on the people coming in the front gate. So let's suppose that you're one of 300 people at the marina gate at opening (that seems like an awful lot once the season is underway). You'll be one of the first 300 on the ride, since presumably all are running to MF.

The trains hold what, 36 people each? (I'm working from memory here) That puts you on the 8th train out. 20 minute wait, TOPS, and probably way less.

Remember that just because the gates open doesn't mean the rides open. I've sat at the Magnum entrance a number of times for the hour between gate time and ride time.

Just as a quick little reminder to all of you that are going to be ready to ride MF the day that park opens: Even though it is CP best intentions to have this baby ready to go for opening day, don't forget that there is alot of new technology in this ride like the cable lift system. Despite the best designs and intentions, it might not have all of the bugs worked out it by then.

I, like all of us, hope that this is not the case but it can happen. And lets not forget about the weather factor. I would like nothing better than to see a picture perfect day in the 70's or 80's on the 13th and MF given a clean bill of health. But I just thought I would bring this up as a possibilty. If you remember when Magnum opened, one of the biggest problems that had with it was the fact that before they installed the padded backs in the cars, the coaster absolutely beat the hell out of you. Now we are up another 105 feet. You have a whole new set of forces to deal with.

Also, I undersatnd all of the excitement about wanting to be the first to ride MF on the 13th, but for the best bang for the buck, you ought to try my strategy. Head to the Point near the end of May on a wednesday or thursday before Memorial Day. First, Pepsi usually runs a $10 off promotion with CP in May when you bring in a Pepsi can. Second, when I did this back in '89 when Magnum had just opened, the lines were all minimal waits. I didn't ride magnum until I had been in the park for a couple of hours. It wasn't the first thing that I rode and I got there when the rides started operating. My wait in line for Magnum? How about 20 minutes. I certainly got more than 1 ride on it too along with a day of alot of other rides as well. I cant see spending a day at the Point to only ride MF once and waiting all day to ride it. The only X factor in this is if the weather will cooperate. The last 2 years and in '89, we had perfect days.

Ain't it neat to have your butt out of the???????? ??? ???? ???? ??? ???? ?? ?????????? ?? ???????? ???
Hey CPboy,

I can understand the anxiety that will come with riding MF for the first time. But if you think thats bad, how would you like to be the guys building the towers and securing the track to the towers.

Definitely not a job for me.

Now that would be great. I don't think the cold December air and lashing winds would work for me though.

My comment about camping out was a joke. Didn't really mean it. I do want to stay at the Marina with my boat (aptly named the Magnum XL-200 with it written on the back and painted red and silver with a tint of blue and orange on the interior.). I don't know when the Marina opens though.

I can honestly say I wont be one of the first ones on it, I'll be the one getting dragged by my arm by my husband as he's pulling me towards it! I love coasters, but the height on this one makes me hesitant for the first time since I was a kid!

It's just so HUGE. we are planning on going the first or second full week of operation, before Memorial day. hope Breakers isn't sold out yet...can't afford reservations until January or February...plus i need to coordinate with my friends who might go with us. anyhoo, when i get to MF i get to it. i might need some time to size it up and get over the HUGENESS of it...

I know what you guys talking about! Although I'll get in line for the ride as soon as I get into the park, this thing is so big that I'm getting butterflies just thinking about it. That hasn't happened to me in years, but it just heightens the excitement I feel about Millennium Force.
AHHHH!!!! Now that everyone has seen those pictures on the official site, they are beginning to understand more and more how I feel as explained earlier in this thread. I knew it was a matter of time until people would begin to admit their nervousness.

After looking at the construction pics, reading these posts,it's all coming back to me..... Butterflies and shakiness.OH MY!! I thought I was over this heighth thing.WRONG,why did anyone bring that subject up?! All I've been thinking about is MF-n-CP,dreaming about opening day.Now I'm freaking-out that I'll chicken out,and also be dragged onto it by my husband, just like tohot2se.What a whimp I am,but I'm glad I'm not alone.I think I'll be on Magnum first,to warm-up,you know?
I am a little nervouse, but that happens when ever I go on a big new type of coaster I have never been on before (I don't know how it will feel). I not only want to ride the thing I might just try it with my hands up in the front seat.

Yes I talk now but I did stand in line for a hour and a half for Power Tower then chickend out at the last minute in 98. The thing just got bigger and faster as you got closer. I have a feeling that so will Millennium Force.

Er um I'm not scared?!

I can just see them opening the ride and everyone on Magnum trying to get the courage for the Force. What the heck am I going to do? I have to Get the courage to ride Magnum XL-200 still. *** This post was edit by bodyin thelagoon on 12/11/99. ***
I will have to open my year up with the Raptor. After I was the last to ride it on the last day at CP in 1999, I think I should open 2000 up with it also. Second Magnum. Then MF
There's no way I'm chickening out on this ride, I admit I have butterflies too, but I'm still going to ride it in the front seat of the front car with my hands up the whole time! What I'm afraid of is that since all of us are thinking twice about riding MF, then the GP will have an even harder time coping with it and inturn might not ride it.
Bodyin, I know how you feel, last year my husband wanted to ride the Power Tower and I said I would just wait in line with him, but after I waited in line for a hour to ride it, I thought to myself, well I better ride it since its our turn next, as soon as I said that, my knees went out from underneath me! I did get on it, and lost my stomach when the thing dropped to lock you in place! At this time I still had my hands on my lap talking to my husband, then the damn thing let loose, and my arms flew in the air, and I couldnt get them back down to hold on!! Man was that one hell of a ride down!! When we got off, I was laughing so hard, and felt the adrenilene so much that I finally got the nerve to ride Magnum for the first time! So I guess its another Power Tower ride for me before I get on this new coaster!!
