Which will you head to first? Millenium Force or M

Thinking about it more, I do have a bizarre feeling about height. Whenever I go on top of a tall structure that is in a fixed position (like the Skylon at Niagara Falls, or Perry's Monument at Put-in-Bay) I get to the top of it, look out, and freak out. Within a matter of seconds I'm head back down the elevator. It took me until the fall of 1998 to finally get the courage to ride Magnum. Nine years it took to the age of 20yrs old to make peace with Magnum. However, I love Magnum now, but still hate height. What I'm trying to get at is that when I walk into the park next spring and look at MF for the first time I'm afraid that it's going to intimidate me like Magnum did for 9 long years. Magnum all over again, nine years, and at age 30 to finally work up the nerve to ride MF. Unless I wait till Sept. when I won't have to wait in long lines in agony to ride it. Why Magnum didn't remove the fear of height in me is the most mysterious thing to me. If any of you guys have any physiological experience please let me know why this is.

I think the best time of year to go is the end of May, preferably a Thursday. Going along with what cpboy said, whenever I go on the Power Tower I know I'm going to be okay, but when I am looking around and I know I'm going to drop I get butterflies in my stomach. When I drop I'm fine, but anticipating it is what gets me.
Maybe Millennium Force will open with the park and Magnum will open the hour after. That way we will not have to pick favorites here.

What do you mean an hour! There will probably a whole bunch of people in front of you even if you get there 2 or 3 hours early.
being scared on rollercoasters is the whole point. To be scared to death but be safe. MF is going to do this well so Cpboy don't be embararassed that you are a little bit afraid everyone is going to be. I am going to the park in Early June after i get off school. I know it is gonna be a long time but, I can't miss school. I remember when power tower opened I only waited 2 minutes for it when i got there first thing in the morning hopefully MF will be the same in June.
CP Boy, don't worry, I know exactly what you are saying about heights. I love Magnum, but I'm still not crazy about heights either, but I am getting better about it. I rode the Giant Wheel last year and actually sort of enjoyed it, that is not real common for me.

However, like you said, you get to the top and you head right back down. Guess what, that is exactly what Millenium Force will do. It will get you to the top and then send you back down, and just think, you'll get back down much faster than you would on an elevator.

Servo, the comment i made about casting the first stone was not meant towards you, I was kind of backing up Jeff when he made the comment to cast the one memeber away for blastamy. :)

By the way...what is it with everyone wanting to be first this and that? It's not like if you are not the first in line at the gate, first in the park , first in MF's queue entrance to zig zag back and fourth through it, first on the loading platform, first to step into the first seat of the first car on MF for the first ride ever on the first day of operation next spring that you will never be able to have a chance again to ride MF. RELAX!!! I'm not trying to offend anyone here, but common! Some of you are acting like the Three Stooges about this trying to be first to do whatever MF. I know how excited everyone is, but still some of you are going a little extreme with this. I plan on attending on opening day as well, but I also plan on taking my sweet old time getting there as well knowing that everything will be up and running for both me an you guys to ride including MF. What if the weather is really crappy that day and the rides are shut down, then what?

Reasons with EVERYONE in the park going to MF first it makes sense to ride Magnum first.

oh you guys are so funny... why stay with the same old when variety is the spice of life? i think, though, that i will let fate decide for me on my first day there. whichever ride is calling the loudest..."SERRVOOO...me...ride me first...SERRRVOOO" that's where i will go. could be Magnum, could be MF, could be Blue Streak....either that, or if, when driving on Perimeter Road to the Breakers, i am forced to inexplicably jump out of the car to worship MF...THAT would be considered a deciding factor. sheer power of beauty, height, and SPEED....pure, unadulterated speed.

"I think I scrambled my brain!!"
Hey Jeff I was wonderin if you live in Brunswick?
Sorry bodyin thelagoon, but I live 3 hours away and I'm in high school so I can't camp out all night let alone be there the first day it's open.
For the same reason people camp out for those hockey game tickets or Star Wars tickets to go on sale. Hey how about those who waited out side of Meijer to get a tickle me Elmo and waited for Mc Donalds to open just to get a Beanie Baby? I always look across the street at the Honey baked Ham place during the holidays and see those people who have been camped out for a week just to get some ham.

Ok all that is kind of weird. How many of you are really going to wait outside at lest 15 minutes before the park opens though? Me, I have my reasons. You see I just don't want to wait in a 3 hour line (heck I don't want to wait in any line at all). I figure If I can get on Millennium Force among the first I can spend the rest of the day rideing the other rides while everyone else is just comeing in and running to the Force, and when the other lines start getting long I will spend the rest of the evening rideing Paddlewheel Excursion. Then 15 minutes before the park closes I will run to Millennium Force, wait in the (I am assuming the park will be packed) 3 to 4 hour line and then ride just befor the clock stikes one giving me just enoulgh time to make it to Home by day break unless I stay and go back the next day. I think it's not a bad plan. I am also assuming that something will go wroung with this plan so I am giving myself a 8 minute break in between every ride and line.

JEFF: I'll be at the resort gate too..I'll introduce myself..I'll probably have something MSU on!! My fam is staying at the Breakers!! *** This post was edit by Jeffrey Spartan on 12/8/99. ***

"Meesa Okee Day"-Jar Jar Binks
The last place that I want to be opening morning is over at the Marina Gate. Now when PT opened in '98 I was at the gate at 8am. There were kids there that were there at 6am already. They didn't say how they got in. Anyway the point of my story is this. They let us in the park and we ran like hell over to the new Power Tower. Well all of the Red Cross people were already there and other people were already there. Needless to say we WEREN'T FIRST to get on.

Now with MF its going to be worse. There are going to be a lot more people there. Then to make matters worse there are going to be a TON of people waiting over at the Marina Gate to get in. People are so worried about getting the first ride out after the red cross. Then again it would be the first ride after the Intamin people rode it, after CP employees rode it, after it was ridden by the media, after the two buyouts the weekend before and after it was ridden for any commercial shoots (if any) The facts show that MF will have been ridden by a few thousand people WAY before any memeber of the GP steps foot in that place. My best advice to people (I know its only decemeber)but as long as you get to ride it on opening day don't kill yourself to get there first. Just thinking how many people here on this board want to be there first to ride it. Not to mention a TON of other enthusiasts across the country that want to be there first, and not counting all the locals that have been watching this thing go up in their backyard. So on opening day play it smart and start to realize it NOW that the odds are totally against you if you want one of the first trains out. Hopefully come opening day that will be clear and atleast people on this board can set an example for everyone else there becasue its going to be like there giving away free money. Here is where one of my favorite quotes comes in "prior planning prevents piss poor performance!"

I would tend to agree that the notion that you could be anything approaching "first" on opening day is insane. But I'll be there early anyway. :)
