Im suprised noone has mentioned Dianna's on 250... we just got a Dianna's across the street from Cheesehaven in Port Clinton/Catawba Island..

I would officially advise you AGAINST eating at Margaritaville (sp). We loved the new one that is now closed, but had hands down one of the worst experiences at the "old" one.

Promoter of fog.

TN Coaster Nut, I believe the Samurai is right by Lowe's. I've eaten at the Margaritaville on the west side of town. It wasn't spectacular, but the atmosphere was nice, with the waterfall and everything else. Dianna's isn't eveyone's cup of tea. A lot of employees like eating there, and a lot don't. I liked it, so I'd recommended it.

I would recommend Cameo Pizza over Chet & Matts. Chet & Matts is a spin off of Cameo (I think they are related and couldn't agree on something. Don't know the whole story) Cameo is on monroe street street across from a park. If you like perch and walleye you should check out the New Sandusky Fish Company http://www.roadfood.com/Reviews/Overview.aspx?RefID=3866
They have the best Perch I have ever found. Its a nice local place on the water front.

Ryans is where we stop everytime we are in Sandusky! even in the off season.

Okay, here's my $.02: If you go downtown, there's a nice little hole in the wall called the Sandusky Fish Co. It's a little take-out joint that has some killer fries and an even better perch sandwich. It's downtown somwhere by West Marine.

A local who I worked with turned me on to the place on night.

Another good spot is to head over to Toft's dairly on route 6 on the other side of Sandusky. One of the best deals on ice cream a "small" (yeah, for King kong) for about $2.75.

Don't miss Toft's ice cream for dessert. A little ways out of town, but worth it.

Where is Toft's? I believe I heard of it remember my cousin saying something that she wanted to go.

The only good thing about Ryan's is the iced tea. Other than that, it's a lot of fried food and cheap cuts of beef. Good price, though. If you're really looking to break away from the norm, I agree with Samurai. The sushi isn't bad, and the dinners reasonably priced for what you get. My personal favorite, however, is The Screaming Monkey. I doubt many people here have been, but it's a really good, small Jamacian restaurant near the mall. Even if you're not a big fan of jerk chicken, at the very least you can enjoy a Red Stripe or two.

Both places offer something different from the standard chains on 250. There is only so much Olive Garden and Chili's one can take.

Ryan's is always a great place to eat. I'll agree with going there any day, doesn't matter how busy that place is, the busier they are, the fresher the food.

I ate at Danny Boys for the first time Sunday, and man their pizza is good. They have some different types, such as Chet & Matt's, but I think their crust is A LOT better. Also, they have a fruit pizza that the people with me were loving! Check them out at http://www.dannyboysitalianeatery.net/.

Now going on 25 years of going to the Point, and I still love it!

I went to Chet and Matt's for the first time yesterday. It was a nice place with good prices. Next time I'd go I would like to try out Cameos. Where exactly is it located at?

I have to differ about Ryan's. Very cheap buffet style institutional food. The "steaks" might not even be Choice quality, they seem like really cheap beef.

I went there once because a friend twisted my arm, I'll never go back.

I'd rather be in my boat with a drink on the rocks,
than in the drink with a boat on the rocks.

If you take the first road you come to when leaving cedar point to the right. That is 1st street. 1st then turns into Monroe street. You will cross Rte 4 near downtown and it may be about 1 mile after that. There is a park on your right and Cameo is right across from the park on your left. You need to park in the street.

My best advice on where to eat in Sandusky is "don't".

Seriously, Sandusky has all the usual chains, but just about every place I have ever eaten in Sandusky has offered me either bad food, lousy service, or both.

(things really haven't gotten much better since the Breakfast at Gulliver's incident. And Gulliver's doesn't even exist anymore.)

I agree with ryans being a good choice. THe steak is actually really good contrairy to what others have said. They're rolls and honey spread are to die for. If your looking for pizza skip chet and matt, definately skip cameo, they're cardboard. The best in town is this little place called pizza house. They have awesome subs there too.

I always stop at Friendly's at least once a season. The food is good, but not really spectacular, but there's none around me anymore, and I've always enjoyed going there.

I've always enjoyed kicking back a drink and nibbling on sweet potato fries at the Thirsty Pony. Other than that, nothing has ever jumped out at me as above "fair at best representation of a chain" in the Sandusky area.

(To be fair, I haven't tried places like Chet & Matt's, nor do I do buffets often. That whole "no wheat" thing plays havock with places like that...)

I can't beleive that nobody has mentioned Berardi's on Perkins near Rte. 4. They have excellent food and they are the original vendors of Cedar Point french fries. One bad thing though is I believe they close at 8:00 p.m.

looks like everyone has totally different ideas as to what is good food and what is trash. Very opinionated in here. I suggest going for what the majority leans toward or just picking something that looks great and sticking with it.
