What's with the new format?

Kudos on the new site design, this really surprised me quite a bit. It has a very clean finish, and the navigation isn't to difficult either.

I agree with a comment made above. The biggest thing I miss from the old version was a list of the dozen or so most recent topics. Is that likely to return?

Probably. It's second on my list.

Personally.. I love the new format. Good job guys.

Out of curiosity what resolution is really the "target" for viewers of the site? I'm pretty sure the old version could do 800 x 600 ok, but web standards aside that's kinda in the dark ages now. Still, at 1024 x 768 the maverick picture is somewhat chopped off.

Edit: I think 1024 x 768 looks pretty decent on further inspection. I'll bet that is the answer.

As you mentioned, Jeff, the pages are loading very fast. One thing I did notice though, is that when I click on a user to view his/her mini drop down profile, so to speak (cool feature, by the way), it's taking an average of 15-30 seconds for the content to load.

I noticed those long profile loads also. Otherwise, its crazy fast. :)

I see you got the Premium membership working. I don't see the ads now. There are still ads showing up in the Photo Gallery though. Are those going to stay?

Great job though. It's great that you went ahead with the new design, so we could start using it. That's the best way to really find out what works and what doesn't. Keep up the good work!

I'm still getting the Google ads in the middle of the topics, but at least the annoying popups are gone.

I could care less about the google ad. It doesn't expand into a window sized ad when I roll over it with my mouse.

And its not ribbiting at me either.

I wanted to get the main ads first at least before I went to bed last night. I'll get the rest today.

I did notice the slow profile loads. Looking into that.

I think the slow profile loading is fixed. We'll keep an eye on it.

When I loaded yours it was slow (mayb 2.5-2 seconds). After that though, they are loading before the box even finishes expanding.

Not sure if it was mentioned, but the "Today" "Yesterday" notation is a bit off. At the top of this page, the first message says Today, 11:28P, and the next post says Today, 12:04A. I'm sure it's on your list, just wanted to mention it.

Still VERY slow to load the profile data here. The dropdown finishes and it's saying "Loading..." for about 20 seconds.

Its back to being slow to load.

I don't see any ads and i don't even have a premium membership. I also noticed when you click My Posts it takes like 20 seconds to load.
