Well, I never worked at CP, but I did work for a traveling carnival for 8 years, and I enjoyed every moment of it! (I ran a Gravitron/Starhip 2000) You will find that there is a certain feeling of pride that accompanies the tediousness of stupid guests (How long is this ride? 45 ft sir.), pukers (Where's my damn pickle bucket...), and outright long a$$ hours (Tear down Sunday night after running POP riders all day, then goto the next spot, set up, and run all day Monday).

But the people you will meet, the friends you will make, the memories you will take, and most important, the outlook on life you will take towards the world, will make you smile forever! (Like surfing the Super Slide at 4am after 10 Hacker Pschorrs.)

Working the amusement industry is a tough, thankless, demanding career. You will meet a lot of people from all walks of life, some nice, some not so nice, some you will wonder if they ever heard of a laundromat! You will work long hours, with little recogniztion, low pay, and ever changing weather conditions.

But at the end of the day, when the marks have gone, and the lights on the midways have died down, that when you look at those silent dark hunks of metal and wood, that you will find a certain sense of pride. It takes alot to stick with it, but it is well worth it IMHO, and it can make you a better person in the long run.

You got that right. Working at an amusement park is not much different than a travelling carnival with the exception that we don't have to tear everything down ever and that our rides are in much better condition than some of the carnivals that go everywhere. This probably isn't the case with yours though. I so agree on the long hours and low pay and rude and stupid people. But I don't think I would trade my job for anything right now.

Gee Dustin, wouldn't it be funny if that would happen and the guests got stuck in the transfer track? man you have to be a complete IDIOT to do something like that :)

You know waht would be really funny?? Maintenance having to jump out and push the train around the turn abovve the station to prevent a rollback... Now that would be funny...

I'll have to ask maintenence if swings could go backwards :-)
