what working at Cedar Point is like???????

I was wondering a few things about working at Cedar Point. . . .First what is the age of most of the workers? Ive read posts and many talk about going to bars.   At the end of this school year I will be graduating from MSU and frankly do not want to go off to law school without a bang! My next question is where do people live mostly in dorm rooms or in aprtments?  Lastly, obviousely the pay sucks, the hours blow and its long work, but is it as much fun as the employees claim on these threads??? Please let me know so i can spend a great summer at one of my favorite parks!!!!!!!
Majority of the workers are college age.. 18-25.  But many are younger and also older. No matter what age you are, you will find people to hang out with for sure.  Age doesn't seem to matter too much at CedarPoint.

Most people probably live in the dorms because there are more spots available (?)  But apartments fill up first.

When I went to CedarPoint my first year to work, I went there by myself and knew no one there, hadn't ever been to the place.  I had a great time.  Whether you have some bad times or good times, either way, I think you will be glad you worked there because of the new experiences you will encounter.

I'm about to go back for my second season at CP. I also went by myself and I had a blast. You are right...the hours are long and the starting pay is very low. But more hours equals more pay. But you get free access to CP and every other Cedar Fair park as long as you are employed at Cedar Point. There are a lot of bus trips to other places. As far as housing goes no matter where you live, you'll only be there long enough to sleep for the most part. The thing is that if it's something you want bad enough then go do it. You can always quit if you don't like it and if you choose to stay, you won't regret it.

Hugehank I go to MSU too!  I have to say that working at CP was probably the best experiences of my life.  This is going to be my 3rd summer and I'm so excited already.  Yeah, the hours are long and the pay is low, but the amount of awesome people you meet make up for it!  You should give it a shot!!  I'm glad I did!  :O)

Well I don't know where to start w/ all of your questions.  Bar...I would never consider Louies a Bar.  Its a hole in the wall.  But it is where you will have the most fun.  I'm getting a huge smile and I just want to laugh thinking about it.  Louies is gross yet wonderful.  Where does everyone live?  Well if you are cool go for Commons, stay off point.  Now when it comes down to dorm/apartments, its all up to you.  If you want to live w/ a lot of people go for the apartments, however if you would rather live w/ two or three roommates go for the dorm.  The dorms are just like school dorms bathroom on each floor and bunk beds.  So think of a college dorm, then think grosser.  As of the question if the job is fun/great?  I found only one problem w/ the job.  It was hard at times to remain happy.  There are so many people that work there that just don't like it.  They are going to try and bring you down.  There will always be those few people you know that will sit in stockade (i dont' mean this bad but it was mostly foods) that would just sit down and complain and say how bad it is and stuff and they are going to try and make you hate the job also.  As long as you don't listen to them and you enjoy your job it will be the best time of your life.  Remember, its your job, you like it stick w/ it.  Hate it, leave right away, don't wait.  There is nothing worse then when someone leaves like a month or so into working it messes everything up, do us the favor and leave right away.  But if you stay understand, you will never leave. Its like that song by the ealges.  the one line says "you can checkout anytime you like, but you can never leave."  And checkout is true, you can checkout thats what its called too, but you will never leave.  It is so weird how a group of random rides on a small part of land in a lake with so many strangers means so much to you...understand that coming into the job.  You are going to leave w/ more then you would ever think.  Trust me on that one, we all grow up, no matter how mature you think you are.  I hope that helped, if you have any more questions, please ask.  And if anyone else would like to comment on my comments please do, i would love to hear it

Well, here's the deal.

After my third summer at Cedar Point, I've finally had my fill.  I believe this was evidenced by my eventual degradation in work performance after an unfortunate incident that caused a demotion that most say was undeserved.

If you're used to having an actual REAL summer vacation and you enjoy that notion, do NOT work at Cedar Point.  It basically takes away your entire summer.  Especially if you work on a bigger ride, as I learned after my transfer to Millennium Force.  That being said, the people and the job both CAN BE fun, and I *do* retain some great memories from my three seasons at Cedar Point, but overall I do not feel the experience was worth all the time I put into it.  As much as I tried to save money, I ended up spending a lot of it on food, my car, and car insurance, so all I came away with at the end of the summer was my bonus, and its status hung precariously in the air throughout the entire second half of the season.  I made a lot of mistakes at Cedar Point in my three summers there, and I regret a lot, especially the physical toll the job took on me, in more than one way (there's no way you understand the magnitude of that, as you don't know me, but let me tell you....).

If you read all this (yes, I know it sounds biased and maybe it is, but the point was to let you know the REALITY of the job rather than the fantasy of it) and still think it's a good idea, then that's great and I hope you have a good time and come away with the best of memories (as a sidenote, you will find a LOT of people from MSU at Cedar Point, and they were some of my favorite people last summer).  Just never say nobody warned you of the bad aspects, aside from the vague "frustrating work, long hours, and terrible pay" spiel.

As far as whether or not working at Cedar Point is fun - even though the hours were really long and horrible, the two months that I spent there last year really were the best of my life.  There is just something so unique about the whole experience, it is impossible to describe it to someone who hasn't been there.  I would definetly suggest that anyone give it a try, at least.  You meet so many kinds of people, and can have the most outrageous fun on your rare off hours.

I ended up quitting, however, because of the hours and problems I was having with a few people.  I've missed the place ever since I left, and have wanted to go back ever since...  In actuality, about 80% of the friends I made at Cedar Point ended up quitting as well, for various reasons.  I think the deciding factor on how well you'll be able to adjust at Cedar Point is whether or not you're very sociable...if you really enjoy spending time with people (your co-workers namely) then it will probably make the job a whole lot more pleasant.  This is just my P.O.V, however.  If you're open-minded, and energetic and able to stay positive even under stressful situations, then I think you can really have a great time at Cedar Point...your will will definetly be tested, but no matter what kind of person you are, it's a great experience, so I think you should certainly give it a try...just my two cents.

Make out and have sex, thats all its good for! Oh yeah, get drunk to!
Me? Dispatch a train to a 'dead' lift on a coaster like Gemini, and end up causing a near-rollback?? Did I remember to say it was loaded?? :-)

Ok this is a typical day at Cedar Point:

1. Get up and get going

2. Work up to 15 hours a day

3. Deal with stupid guests

4. Deal with really nice guests

5. Get off work, go back to the dorms, change and head to Louies.

6. Get wasted

7. (And this one is optional like 5 and 6) Leave with a guy or a girl and go get some action.....heheheh

That's pretty much the whole summer. Anyone disagree?

I didn't think you would do something like that, Dustin. It was just one of those hypothetical situations, wasn't it. I've had more than my share of those.
