Its also not a bad idea to bring a small safe for important documents. I have a small fire safe that I keep pay stubs and the like in. Bring a lock and cable to lock the safe to something you can't take out of the room, like your bed, too. In 05, my roommates thought I was crazy with it, and locking it to my bed. In 06, those of you who were ever in my room in 06 know how crazy my setup was. It would have been easier to break open the ATM in the commons store than to take my safe.

How far are the laundry facilities away from Common Dorms (where I hope to get a room)? What did you use to carry your laundry to and from your room?
When I worked there in '02, there were actually some in a laundry room on the first floor of the 1300 building. I'm not sure if they are still there or if this is a pattern for the other buildings. But the true laundry area is located inside of the "housing office/store". One word of advice, that floor is always nasty, dirty, and no one ever moves their laundry when it is done with the cycle. Also, there are signs posted in the laundry room that "require you to stay in the room when you're doing laundry", but nobody ever does this.
To be honest, I rarely did laundry the entire summer. I brought several changes of clothes. But mainly all I wore was my Racepark Uniform. If I wanted ride the rides after work, I'd just put on a jacket.
You might get 1 day off a week, 2 if you're lucky. My recommendation for those days off is to stay away from the park, and get some much needed rest and relaxation. Even though the job is fun most of the time, you WILL need a break from the environment. These are also good days to do your laundry.
Take advantage of the rec center on your days off. There is a big screen tv, along with a pool table (2?), computers, excercise equipment, a snack bar, and vending machines. You'll find this just as enjoyable as riding the rides.
Have a great Summer! I really wish I could come back and work 1 more summer, but in '02, I met a girl who worked at the blacksmith shop, we started dating, and let's just say, " it broke".
I'm too sexy for my harness!
The importance of an alarm clock is overwhelming. A fan is important too... I had a small refrig that was good for beer and soda.
And definitely dont forget the Bacardi 151!

I guess you have to wake up with everyone else, even on your day off when there is 2 other alarm clocks going off. How does that work with multiple roomies going to waork at different times?
JPS, don't worry about it. You learn to sleep through alarm clocks quickly if you don't have to get up.

...Don't bring 151. Unless you want to risk getting caught with it, and get your ID pulled among other things. Your allowed to have about 72 ounces of beer or malt beverages (like Smirnoff Ice, etc) in your possession. If you bring in a twelve pack...you better find a few legal aged friends to split the pack with or you'll have to either, put it in your car, or give the grass by the commons booth some beer (and what a waste of money and beer that is...and it happens more than you think).
Oh, and a suggestion for something to bring:
Your own sheets, pillow, blanket, and a mattress pad. Those beds have been used often, and not just for catching some Z's if you catch my drift. You don't know what little critters may survive.
You may also wish to obtain some air-freshener, some of those dorm rooms smell pretty rank, especially if you have a room mate with bad hygiene.
If your in merchandise, you may want to buy a clear backpack or just use one of the clear bags they sell for the water rides. Since money is processed at the shop and there is merchandise for sale there, the park will only let you have a clear bag to ensure your not stealling anything.
Fans are needed if you live anywhere except the Commons Dorms (then you need a couple blankets, depending on your roommate).
Also depending on your roommate you may need earplugs or just tylenol pm (hell, with the walls as thin as they are, you may be kept up all night by the snoring in the room next to you).
Bring a copy of the birth certificate or passport, just incase you road trip to Windsor on a few days off.
If you forget things, Cedar Point offers many of the little forgotten items for sale. Also Sandusky (well Perkins Twp--the city of Sandusky has nothing, but Perkins Twp just down Milan Rd) has Meijer, Target, and Walmart, as well as a mall (although its rather pisspoor), so if you need something or just need to shop for food, everything you need is there.
And one of the most important things you need to bring....A budget. Those paychecks disappear quickly if you don't manage your cash. Don't be that person that bums money off of friends on the Monday after payday because they blew it all off at Louie's on Thursday and Sunday.
It was stated relatively low on the list earlier, but really it is hard to stress SHOWER SHOES!!! Some nasty stuff can and most likely is on the floors of the showers. I bought a pair of boating/swimming shoes before I even arrived in Sandusky. Something else I wish I would have had would be a shower caddy. Maybe one with suction cups, or one that would hang, just to keep everything in one easy to keep place (although not a necessity).
A sweater. It can rapidly get cold on the lake. I also reccomend buying the smurf suit (I wouldn't doubt wardrobe still sells them). I still have mine, and I use it for big rain storms.
A really good Alrm clock, maybe even two. I knew a few people who were fired for being late, and a few more that had to work way to many extra hours to work off points. I used my alarm clock, and my cell phone alarm as a back up.
Most of the other stuff is either posted above, or mainly just all of your basic needs.
