What To Bring???

So Ive been hired to work at Cedar Point, but now what to bring? I know the basics that they have on the website, but what about other things? Anything I should bring besides those? Also, on clothes just regular summer clothes or do I need to bring some dress clothes in case or what? I dont wanna bring everything I own sooooo help me out! Thanks :D~Jessi

I would say just bring the necessities... dont bring too much clothes or you wont have anywhere to put them, and you only need to bring dress clothes if you want to bring dress clothes... otherwise make sure you bring an alarm clock and sun screen!!!

Where will you be working at?

Ill be working at the Pagoda Gift Shop.~Jessi

If you're going to be there in May, you'll definitely want warm clothes. No real need for dressy clothes, honestly. And less is definitely more. You don't have a lot of storage space in your room. The Commons lockers are pretty tiny.

Beyond that, an alarm clock is definitely a must. Don't count on your roommates, haha. A TV is nice, but you can honestly do without it. I had one, and didn't spend a lot of time watching it. Some people like sunscreen, others really don't bother with it after awhile. You'll be mostly inside so it might not matter as much. Swimsuit if you think you'll be using Soak City or the beach.

Some people bring videogames or computers, but I'd avoid it. Theft is a sad reality at Commons, and having bunch of nice stuff can sometimes attract attention. I'd bring a small-ish mini-fridge, too, if you can. Nice to be able to have food so you can pack your lunch instead of always eating at the cafe, and if you're of age, having a few adult beverages available.

awww i love that gift shop! I think thats where i got my Cedar Point winter coat! I wanted to do winter in style, lol. Getting back on point...

I would bring sunglasses for sure. Bring sandles of some sort because you dont wanna put your little feeties on a floor where everyone from allover the world has put their feet (public showers). I never did, but I had used public showers at camp grounds all my life so i didn't give a hoot. But if i could re do it, i would have wore them.

We had a TV in my room, but we really never watched it other than to check the weather for the day, that was really its only use in our room.

A backpack is a good idea. Keep an extra change of clothes in there and take it to work with you - you never know if you'll be asked to ride rides with a fellow co-worker if you get off early in the day and you won't want to have to go all the way back to Commons to change. It's a good way to bring any other necessities with you that you might need throughout the day, too!

Bring a decent water bottle, drinking water is a must during the heat of the summer...

I was planning on bringing my laptop and a digital camera, should i not? If theft is really that bad.....

If you are staying in Commons Dorms then its not as dangerous as other places, you just have to trust your roommates and keep it locked in your locker whenever your not there... In fact, I would keep you locker locked even when you are there, you never know when a fire alarm is going to go off, cuz security goes into every room to make sure everyone is out, but they dont bother locking back up...

If you don't bring a car, and can't find a ride... be ready to experience the greatness that is blue thunder... luckily I only had to ride that beast once this whole summer.

I bought my digital camera with me last summer and it was safe. Just make sure to lock up everything in your locker. One of my friends room got broken into last summer and they stole a laptop, my dvd player, and Hitch... yes I mean the movie... and if you ever talk to Barb who works at Skyhawk... don't bring it up because she'll swear it was the most important thing stolen....

I'm just playing, I love me some Barb!

Is the bus really that bad? I don't have a car to bring (or my friend), and how long would it take to get to work and back on the bus?

On the bus you have to plan to leave about an hour before you have to start working. Sometimes its ontime, other times its not... kind of a toss up at times.

Commons does have some bike racks outside. You could lock to to those. Nobody can say nothing will happen to it, though. If you have a 1st floor apartment, I imagine you could easily store it in your bedroom. You're roommates might not like you have your bike wasting so much space, though. You could also store it in your car, if you're bringing one. But even thats not the best idea. I had my truck broken into once last season (make sure your passengers close your doors tightly...) Luckily for me though, the person only took coins from my coin tray. There was really nothing of value in my truck, except for a really nice pair of hiking boots which they were too stupid to take.

But I can't believe nobody has said this. Be sure to bring condoms. You're going to a place run almost entirely by college age students!

Here's a question I haven't seen answered anywhere, and seems appropriate to ask here: what about laundry facilities?
