Well, they repainted it when Top Thrill Dragster opened, and I feel like that's always been the consensus. It's a dumb reason, but we're also talking about the post-peak Kinzel era here. Paint schemes and general aesthetics didn't seem to play a major factor into a lot of their decisions.
I'm sure Iron Dragon will be scheduled to get new paint soon, whether that will include a different color scheme is a complete guess. I certainly hope it will, especially with the new leaderships' take on landscaping and aesthetics.
The orange supports match nothing on Dragster. Dragster is yellow, albeit faded yellow. Using orange supports to depict fire is a stretch, as there is nothing outside of the logo on the train or signage depicting an actual dragon.
Yes, it is an eyesore, but No, it probably won't be painted any time soon since it doesn't NEED it.

Wicked Twister needs it the most. Those supports look God awful...
This. I'm still mystified how the park did an overhaul to the 2015 "Wicked Twister" midway, from Maxair all the way over to the Lakeside Pavilion, and forgot the namesake of the updated midway, Wicked Twister! LMAO.
Calypso was relocated and rethemed to Tiki Twirl, Dodgem and mini-dodgems were given a new home and face-lift, new trees were planted, and Wicked Twister was forgotten. Still boggles my mind. Maybe the park can overhaul/paint that old AWE stadium roof while they're at it. It's showing that 80's look. That'd be nice.
Maverick is fine the way it is. It fits the overall theme back in Frontier Town with its faded rustic look. Maverick would look out of place with shiny, new paint.
I agree that Wicked Twister needs paint. Magnum is not too far off either.
