We got one of these this year, and it's been pretty good.. We typically just leave it in the car, then when we take a lunch break or whatever, go to the car, run back in with the bottle, fill it, and head back out. We have not yet been charged for a refill, even though they scan the bottle and the register shows that we owe the 99c.. Do they typically not enforce that rule at all? Or maybe it is only done on weekends? We were there Sunday evening and Monday and had free refills both days.
Every-time I go with my bottle, they charge me the .99 cent refills. Lately they've been offering me to pay $5.00 and that would give me unlimited refills all day. I usually just go for the .99 cent refills and fill up 1-3 times. That way I don't drive my friends crazy by having to pee over and over. Lol
Do cups from one park generally work at another. I was at Carowinds today and there was a lady who was getting 99 cent refills all day with a Kings Island cup, but as I left the park I asked a guy who seemed like he knew what he was doing and he said they aren't supposed to work at other Cedar Fair parks. Did that lady just have a faulty barcode?

Souvenir cups generally work between parks without issue. That said, for your own sake, I might contact any parks you're interested in and pose that question for clarification. Technically, a Cedar Point souvenir cup is to be used at Cedar Point, but the unofficial policy is that they can be used wherever. Some parks have officially acknowledged this policy on social media, but an email is just as good.
Just don't, heaven forbid, try to get water from Coca-Cola Marketplace at Carowinds. I had an employee yank it right out of my hand and say I cant have it.. On a hot 4th of July weekend, no less.
Indeed and I've never been denied water, except in that case. She was insistent that I go elsewhere, after having filled up a cup and started to drink it. I made sure to let the cashier know I just had water so they didn't think I was running off without paying. Instead of even saying that they prefer you go elsewhere for the Kinzel cups™, she yanked it right out of my hand. *sigh*
Meanwhile, Kings Island's Coca-Cola Marketplace had no issue with the same thing.
Carowinds reportedly has a 'free' refill souvenir bottle available for $24.99. I would look into if we were able to go to the park often. Maybe we'll see it offered at CP in the future.

But you still have to carry a bottle! Why can't they add "free" drinks for $24.99 to your pass and save the cost of the bottle?
