In the past couple years they are getting close to that but for the longest time that wasn't the case at all.

Not sure what was before that as I only started going in 2013.

The pace definitely picked up in 2008, but still, CP was pretty regularly adding new haunts. There are others I couldn't remember like the haunted train ride (I think the first year). And of course there were new Halloween shows, parades, fortune tellers, and other activities debuting along the way. I feel like I've looked forward to a new attraction advertised every Halloweekends season.
Nice list. I would also mention that in the past 4 years, 3 new haunts have been in new buildings which were not previously used for a haunt (Eden Musee, Hexed, Slaughter House). So they have definitely recognized the need for additional haunts and not just the replacement of aging ones.
The same is true for Kings Island, which added 2 new haunt buildings last year (Kill Mart, Slaughter House).

Yep, hard to believe Kings Island is up to 11 haunts and 4 scare zones now.
In looking back at that list, I think Happy Jack's / Erie Estate was a turning point for CP in terms of haunt quality and detail. Those two really kicked it up a few notches.
Though, some of the new haunts following haven't lived up to those standards. For example, while Hexed had some nice detail and good ideas, it just didn't work overall for me. The house was too open, leaving the actors with few places to hide. And while witches are a staple of Halloween, they aren't exactly the most threatening characters to have in a haunted house. I'm hoping for some improvements this year.
If CP's Slaughter House is anywhere near the level of Kings Island's new-for-2014 Slaughter House, then it'll be a level of gore and intensity that the park hasn't had before. I'm excited to see whether or not CP shakes off its family-friendly image with this haunt...
Not everybody wants intense, blood and guts, scares in a haunt. Just like coasters some like milder ones, some like milder haunts. The parks have to have something for everyone. Not everybody enjoys "in your face" screamsters.
I have worked with the public all my life, and while you will never make everybody happy, some people will never be happy. And there seems to be enough of them in here.
You can add me to the list of "unimpressed" by excess gore. I enjoy haunted attractions mostly for the creative visuals (that I can recreate at home) and not for a repulsive effect. I still don't understand the popularity of "gorror" movies either.
The HalloWeekends Pumpkin Blaze has the potential to be pretty neat. I'm looking forward to seeing how it looks at night.
I'm trying to figure out where it is located exactly. Will it be around the little bridge near Dragster's lockers?
"Thank the Phoenicians!"
I have to agree with y'all about the Gore. I really appreciate the horror level of cedar point. Its exciting enough to get your heart racing yet i feel like Cedar point doesn't ever cross a line of obscene gore and violence. For me at least its the perfect level of getting scared and having fun. Ive been very pleased with the additions in the past except eden musse. The scenery the first year was a little laking (but its gotten better over the years)
While not a huge fan of gore myself, I definitely see the need for variety and making a more intense haunt that is catered to the teen+ group. It appears this is exactly what CP is doing by trying harder to separate Haunt vs The Great Pumpkin Fest. Now they can go for a more intense theme (Slaughter House) that isn't so family-friendly.
Is this" intense" house the one with the semi-nude screamsters someone asked about last year?

Every year I go to Halloweekends, and every year I ask myself, "Where are the chainsaws?".

I saw chainsaws! I was at the Call of the Haunt on Saturday and a screamster stood by me and turned his on and scared the bejeebus out of me. He was either headed to Slaughterhouse or Blood on the Bayou. I can't recall.
I've seen chainsaws in Blood on the Bayou and Cornstalkers. My son was chased with one in Cornstalkers last year.
Unless they finally bought real ones, the one or two chainsaws the park used were fake. Just a plastic prop with a loud speaker on it that had the sound of a real chainsaw.
I agree with 99er... the toy chainsaws that have been used in the past are silly.
Most haunts I have attended that use chainsaws just remove the chains from them.
To me it is pretty obvious that the chainsaws are fake... although that may be due to the fact I worked the event for four years.
I would like to see the park try a premium upcharge haunt. Something along the lines of Trapped at Knotts Scary Farm. You pay $60 to reserve a time, and up to 6 guests can go in. The experience is heavily interactive, intense, and not for children. Actors touch you and there are tasks/puzzles to solve to enter into the next area. There is a safe word that will stop the experience immediately. I did this at Knotts, and it was worth every penny. However, it would take a lot of staff, budget, time, and talent to pull this off well. Doubt we'll see it at CP.
I have been thinking about a plan that Cedar Point should follow for next years Halloweekends for a long time now! Next year in 2016 Cedar Point should not add any new haunts because there is no need to do soo because they have 6 great quality houses with Slaughterhouse being a great success. Where Cedar Point needs to work on in 2016 is the outdoor scare zones because that is where its lacking a bit! I feel first things first Carnevil should return back next year, even though Fairy-tale could be a future potential good haunt it will never be what Carnevil was. Carnevil brought fear to peoples eyes and the clowns scared many teenage girls this haunt was for sure the scariest to the general public. The music Carnevil had was very great as well, I heard I'm a Ballerina Here and there a lot. The banners that wrote Carnevil were very traditional as well this haunt gives me a nostalgic feeling!
The second part of a plan for next years Halloweekends is to take Cut Throat Cove and put it back to its old Island...Terror Island and return the legendary duo of Carnevil and Terror Island. To me that was the most legendary area for scare zones and area where you can find clowns and pirates! In this plan Cedar Point should keep the Dino's but put them away for Halloweekends!
Now what to do with the Cut Throat Cove area that has no pirates in it anymore if this plan is set. How about you put in Tombstone Terror-Tory into the Cut Throat Cove area and actually give this zones a longer feel to it than 20-30 seconds. This would be giving this haunt the hidden potential that this haunt needed in the first place, this haunt is well organized and has many cool props.
So tell me what do you think of my plan do you like it? Or do you not like it? Respond to me I would love to talk about this topic?
