Here's the math:

1000 people per hour and 32 per train.  That's 31.25 trains per hour, or one train approximately every two minutes (1.95min to be exact).  The ride time of SUE is roughly a minute and since WT is not much larger, I'll assume the same here.  That leaves about another minute for loading/unloading.

Now here's the big question:  What can CP operational standards do with a shuttle?  We all know how SUE is operated.  Can CP take virtually the same ride and turn it into something with decent throughput?  If they put a good staff on this ride, and it looks like they will if they're going to have six "operator stations", they can hit the 1000pph easy.

Wheres the Electricity!

This ride is gonna be a whole lot of fun.

The only thing I'm slightly disappointed by is the lack of a train render on the announcement pages.  The colors sound awesome, I just wanna see them...:)

Jeff, can we have the key now?

Also, where is the promo video?  I hope that's still in the works.

It is a fine ride, well worthy of Cedar Point. But I'm afraid Jeff is right about the complaints. It's not hard to see what the reaction will be when everyone wakes up and realizes it's not 500' tall and 120mph.

Personally, I think the park will be very well balanced for 2002. Maybe the best it's ever been.

Without upstops, airtime would have a whole new meaning!

WOW
Well, the thrillseekers will have something to look forward to and the families will have something to look forward to.  I don't think it will lead to a blockbuster year for CP but the coaster is going to look good there.

Overall, I give them a (B-) grade for the effort.  I certainly don't think it was worth 1,500 posts in the thread!  Oh well, we are easily entertained!

Personally, I think this is a nice addition to the park. It's not just a clone of the existing impulses, as it's higher and has a new twist, so to speak. I can't wait to check it out.

I'm not disappointed in the least. It's a ride I've been wanting to try, and it will help alleviate some of the lines for the other coasters. Hrm...do you think this one will be added to Millennium Mania??

Well, Superman at SFWOA is my favorite ride there, so it's cool CP is getting one. I've got to be honest and say that I wish they would have gotten something no other Northern Ohio park has though. Plus, no matter how you slice it, this ride is going to have some long and slow lines on those busy days. The location looks perfect!

I'm curious how the lines will look!

That's an easy question to answer; LONG!!!!
It may be an issue of "you go *myah* and I go *nyah,* you *myah,* me *nyah* as the lines of DT and WT could initially be converged and then split as the group became closer to either of the coasters.  Though this has been beaten to death, perhaps the higher attendence to Oceana may yet bring some attention to fixing what's busted on Disaster Transport.

I think they could hit 1000 per hour fairly easily with normal operation.  With three trains Magnum definitely spends under a minute in the station, so it should definitely be possible to hit something close to that with this ride.  The only time capacity is going to suffer is in the case of a guest illness or something like that.  They won't be able to still run two other trains (and maybe even most of a third) while the "cleanup operation" proceeds.  Hopefully that won't be too much of a problem though.

I wonder how many people in the General Public don't even know that Disaster is a ride.  A quick glance might leave one thinking it was a warehouse of some kind.
Well, it is interesting to say the least.  I never thought Cedar Point would actually put in a ride like this because of the capacity issue, but they are good at mixing it up.  Can't wait to check it out but I know I won't be riding it much and not because I won't like it.  I really enjoy SUE (although I don't think I'll like the twisted back spike on CPs as much as the "hang time" on SFs straight spike) but for some reason, I can't ride it too many times in one day.  It messes with my insides for some reason.  I'm not talking about making me sick, it actually hurts my insides.

I also don't see it reducing other lines (well maybe for the first year) but the past couple times I've been to SFWoA, there hasn't been much of a line for SUE.  Pretty much walk up, sit down and re-ride.  Someone actually rode the thing over 1,100 times this season (she didn't do that without some serious re-rides).  It seems as though the novelty wore off.  I guess only time will tell.

As soon as my 2 almost 3 year daughter saw the picture of it she said she wanted to ride it.  I told her she wouldn't be able to because she wouldn't be tall enough and she started to cry.  Hehe.

this will revive the midway...i agree with the balancing of the park...this will give cedar point a strong season this year; maybe the best in about 10 years.

Well, I hope that this capacity thing is true...afterall, the press release on Millennium Force stated that the capacity was 1400 riders/hour......now most of the summer, we barely hit 1200.....so this leads me to belive that 1000 riders/hour is wishful thinking! And MDOMnis.....I think there is only one train...b/c doesn't WT have one continuous track? You can't have more than one train on this thing I think.... But don't get me wrong (I know, I'm being rather negative....) I think this will be a great ride, and a really nice addition to CP.

I know why there is only one train! :)  I was just making the point that if something happens with that one train, its going to bring things to a grinding halt, where as with another ride, you can still load the other two while the third one is being cleaned or drying.  I'm sure that 1,000 pph is about the best they'd ever do, but in an hour of non-interrupted operation, I don't think that number is all that unreasonable.  And the press release for MF said 1,600 riders per hour, not 1,400...
