Welcome Wicked Twister

Well what does everyone think?  It makes me dream about May when CP opens again. It will be a kick butt ride... I am definately not disappointed with CP's plans this year. There is a great section on CP's webpage about our new ride and information on the new Snoopy ice show too!

Sounds like a good ride to me!
I think people will be disappointed that it's not taller or faster or dueling.  But like it has been said before, you can't please everyone.  I'm sure when Magnum was first announced, some people were disappointed, hoping for say, a multi-looper.  But this will definitely be a kick-ass ride. No doubt about it!

No doubt. It will be an interesting "twist" to what they have in the park. I think it is the perfect spot for it also. It will also revitalize that end of the park, it was kind of dead back there last season by the Giant Wheel.  I might even consider going back to work for a second season just to be able to ride this on my off time. ;)
The name was in the list of guessed names all along. :)   http://www.guidetothepoint.com/thepoint/cpplace/thread.asp?ForumID=1&TopicID=6366
You are right Flisk. I wonder where whoever guessed that got their information. We might never know. Looks like it will make the "Superman" at SFWOA look like it's junior. :) Maybe it will take away some visitors from there and send them on in to CP in 2002.

Even though I'm disappointed by the ice show, I think this is very cool. It's going to being a great ride/coaster (can't wait for that argument to being ).

I just cant believe it!  Back in August ...I was told by an employee that CP was getting a Superman clone that Six Flags Ohio had....I thought...yeah..probably will...but maybe alot taller...alot faster and even a dual!  When I woke up this am to see that its about identical with only a twist instead of a straightaway...I fell off my chair!  All this wait for something exactly what I was already told...A CLONE!  So much for a short MF line next year.  Im excited about having a lim launch..but not the one I have already rode all summer long before at the park closest to CP.  Ya think maybe next year we might get the BIG BIG Dipper? Im sorry people..but Im not to thrilled.  Was hoping they would at least make it alot different then Six Flags.  And since CP didnt recognize this as a coaster cause its not full circuit....I just hope maybe next year CP gets two coasters or more to keep their "most coasters in one park record".......Im going back to bed.

From their web site:

"Named Wicked Twister, this 215-foot-tall, 72-mph steel stunner will be Cedar Point’s 15th scream machine, breaking the park’s own world record for having more coasters than anywhere else on Earth."

Almost forgot ... for those who seemed to have believed my post from that monster thread where I said I was staying up all night, please buy a book on sarcasm.

Umm....Didnt stay up all night..(there was no need..I knew since Aug what they were building..was just hoping it would be much much better).have kids to get ready for school when I seen the announcement..NOW I am going back to bed. (hence notice the word BACK in the phrase back to bed..that means I was there...and didnt stay up all night)  LOL!And I know what CP wrote on their website about the most coasters in a park...my point was that when Superman  was built in Six flags Ohio...CP said at the TIME they didnt recognize it as a coaster for it was not a full ciruit...but now  they do?  I do have to say though...I like the name of the coaster.

This ride ROCKS!!! :)

I went to bed for about 5 hours. Set my alarm for 5:45. Yet, I get on and it's already announced! Oh, well. Still a good ride!

Nice job CP!!! :)

Well, I'm definately excited, although I'm curious to see the lines with 1000 PPH.

Cedar Point never said that they didn't recognize Six Flags WOF Superman coaster as a rollercoaster.  S:UE is different than SF:TE at SFMM.  An impulse coaster has multiple launches and falls plus the twist while S:TE at MM only has one launch and one drop.

PS - I was up almost all night, not because of this announcement, but because I broke my shoulder last night, got back from the emergency room at about 12:30 AM, and then found that I couldn't get comfortable.

I'm curious as to how they are GETTING 1000 pph.  It's not dueling, there's only one train, and even though it is slightly extended, how are they going to do it?

I had a feeling that WT would be double-twisting.  I mean why not?  The only drawback is (at least I think) that you won't be able to get that short little stop at the top of the back spike like on S:UE.  Or am I wrong?

I'm also a little confused on the speed vs. height.  S:UE is 180 feet at 70 mph, WT is 215 feet at 72 mph.  Doesn't that seem like a large jump in height with too small of one in speed?  I hope I'm wrong.

But regardless, Wicked Twister is gonna be a great ride and I'm looking forward to following the construction (yay they have a new construction diary).  I'm even more looking forward to Opening Day.

Ouch sorry Natas...hope your feeling better!  I could of swore CP didnt recognize Superman as a rollercoaster....Either of them...that is...I could be wrong.

1000 people per hour?

I'm curious how the lines will look!

Majin, I believe that they are stating the launch speed of both rides, but I could be wrong.

I think Cedar Point did a great job. Its going to be a nice ride, and will help decrease lines around the park even more. I'm not to sure about the colors they pick for the trains, but the more I think about it, they are somewhat the same as Raptor's trains.

LoL... already someone has taken the WickedTwister screen name...

I'm happy, and I can't wait to ride this thing!

Time for school now...

Hmm... Very interesting, this Wicked Twister... I was expecting something different, but this still sounds cool. I think I'll need to go "visit my aunt" in Ohio next summer. :)
