Because I can read your thoughts, I know some people are asking this question ...

Q: Why do you post photos when there really isn't anything different?

A: Usually, there are subtle differences. The biggest reason, however, is to help build a historic record of the construction. Years from now it will be nice to look back at the photos as a timeline and a nearly day-to-day account of construction. History is a huge motivating factor when it comes to me and Cedar Point photography.

Amazing photos and they must be starting vertical contruction pretty soon because now the crane is there. ;) http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=4240

Its probably just there to offload the pieces from the flatbeds bringing them on point.

However, since they are bringing supports on site, I'd wager a guess that they are anywhere from a couple days to a week and half away from starting erection.

Great photos! Thanx guys!!

The crane is likely there for both reasons - offloading and erecting supports.

It's going to be refreshing once vertical construction starts. At least we'll finally have some real indications of height at various points throughout the ride.

Brandon

I agree with JuggaLotus. I'm guessing maybe a little less than a week away from verticle construction. What happened to the draining of the Swan Boat lagoon? Still having pump problems?

Thrills Around the Corner!

Well, Mr.Scott was right. There will be water involved. http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=4217. ;)

Y'know, based on this picture (when taken in context with the rest), it would seem that the footers have all been poured.

Forgive me if this is something that is either plainly obvious, or has been discussed already - I don't read through everything in the "Project 2007" forum, for obvious reasons.

Brandon

It does look as if all the footers are done. I would have thought there would be more.

Thrills Around the Corner!

Thanks djDaemon, I never knew what those blue things were for. Although now it seems pretty obvious.

If they are done with the footers, I think it is safe to say that the coaster will not go through the Antique Cars or MS.

101 on Magnum and counting...

djDaemon's avatar

Well, they could very well have more to do elsewhere, but the footer work at this site sure seems to be done.

Actually, we will probably never see verticle construction. Vertical, however, yes. ;)

^^^Lets not forget the possibility that they are only getting these footers done first then will move to AC when the season is over. And there's some more footers that are not even concreted yet.

Plus, if they were done with the casts, they would take them apart.

This is just me 2 cents.

Well, I should have been a bit more clear. The fact that there are so many forms sitting there implies that the BULK of the footers are done, and only a few remain.

And, no, they wouldn't necessarily take them apart. What purpose would that serve?

And what in the world is AC?

Brandon

Antique Cars.....DUUUUUHHHHH ;)

The only reason I'd think they'd take them apart would be that a form takes up less space when it is separated. You'd stack them one half on top of the other. Just because they are still assembled though I don't think means they are going to use them anymore.

Ahhh... Oops, I suppose that was somewhat obvious. Although a "the" would have helped, seeing as how we're speaking English here.

Yeah, that's very true about the forms. Perhaps they will be used again elsewhere, and are simply being stored until then.
