So, the wiring/cabling is just laid in there? I assume that there are also covers, or some other device that protects and/or holds the contents in place?

What is this? http://pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=6153. Also I could see them letting the flag go because its really only the workers that see it. A new flag would end up looking like that in no time with how windy things get out there.

That's the hose they use to fill the supports with sand. There is a bag (above, out of the picture) that feeds said hose.

Its scarey to get a better update from Pointbuzz then from Cedar Point!
Are you kidding? Between PointCast, diary updates, new photos at least every couple of weeks, blog entries, and all the other content that's been on maverick.cedarpoint.com, what they've done far surpasses what little we've been able to do. It's silly to say otherwise. They're doing what I only wish we had the time and access to do and it's very much appreciated.
I'm glad everyone is enjoying the photos, though. Life around here has been erratic since the season ended. I didn't think we'd be able to get an update done before the end of the year. But it happened to be that I was off work and in town yesterday for other reasons, and Tony was gracious enough to take time out of his hectic schedule to help us out. We got blessed with a great blue sky. The temperature might have been a toasty 50ยบ (well, toasty for December 13), but the wind off the bay was insane.
Your doing a great job Walt keeping up with the site and getting updates whenever you can. We all really apreciate it.

They usually put a flat piece of metal over the cable tray as seen on the trays on TTD. (Look to the right at the electrical building as you go up the incline into the station - there's a cable tray there with a TON of cables laying in it.) Lots of the cover on that tray is now missing and the rest is dented in the center which makes for a nice trough for water. LOL!! All of those components are made to withstand the weather, though. So, its not really that big of a deal.
I have to say I am a little disappointed in the "water tower". The top looks amazing and very well done since its only purpose is for looks. But, the lack of finish on the elevator shaft itself is just disappointing. It literally looks like they plopped a water tower on top of an elevator shaft. LOL!! Had they clad the tower in siding or something it would've looked a LOT better. (Btw, I'm assuming the tower isn't going to be clad since its painted brown and has finish brackets on the top already.)
Thanks Walt for the updates. It seems so long ago since the last true update, but thats Ok. Keeping up with your job and then this website probably keeps you busy all the time. Thank you Walt.
Thanks for the update.
Looks like it coming along pretty good.

^^^I highly doubt that they are done with that elevator shaft. Remember, they still have to build a building around the entire thing. I bet you won't see the bricks when it's finished.

Walt you sure you weren't just busy stocking up on kleenex for after I beat you this week in FF? ;)
I know with the cable trays here we don't have anything on top of them (because it's indoors and temperature controlled) but I believe they put pieces of sheet metal over them to 'seal' them up.
Hmm... There looks to be a footer just about the right size for lighting instrument right inside the tunnel...

Very true. Since MF was getting built CP always has a webcam on its new ride's going up along with pictures and construction diary's. Seven years later and only a handful of parks in the entire world do some kind of pictures or logs on the construction of new rides.

Plus, as I've said numerous times before, Cedar Point's website is THE best I've seen in the industry. Most parks don't even have pictures of all of their rides, much less galleries like CP does.
They do an amazing job!!

Maybe it's the "light at the end of the tunnel"? It would be kinda cool to be blasting through a dark tunnel into a bright light.
