Update: August 30

If you guys/gals want to figure out roughly what is going to happen after the "mid-course launch", just think about physics and common sense! ;)

Let's say a coaster is approaching the mid-course launch and doesn't lauch correctly for 'x' reason. Do you think they would allow the train to come to a stop in a valley on the track only for them to come out with a crane to take the cars off and placed back in the station? No. I'm suspecting after the launch, you won't see anything too far off the ground, given the speed the train will be going. I'm guessing the train will wind its way, low to the ground, back to the station.

But hey, who knows, right?

But then, you have three more rows of footings. There's two rows of square footings.

These are for the station. You said it yourself.

halltd said:

But if you look closely, there's one single row of other footings on the lake/bay side of that run. What are these for?

As has been previously said, if the station is in this area (which all signs point to the fact that it is) there should be supports for the transfer track somewhere nearby. A short straight line of supports starting around the station area would indicate this.

Make sure to read the other posts in the thread, especially in one thats only on page 2.

Mechanical Engineer: Dont mess with us, we design your coasters.

Looks like so far my themed tunnel idea for the launch is holding true. Who's with me? Less than a week and we'll all know!

Dead Men Tell No Tales

I thought there would be more than just a tunnel, I thought that the whole reason they started so early is so they could cover the track with a mock mountain like atlantis adventure, thats what I was expecting, it still might happen

I would not count on a giant mountain. I think this might be Cedar Point's baby steps back towards theming a few rides. With CF owning the former Paramount Properties, it's about time they get back in the game of theming. Don't expect anything Disney style, but a few themed elements should be in this ride.

Dead Men Tell No Tales

Do you think that this coaster could have switch track? Picture this. The trains going down the track and then it hits a part where the track goes two directions,(not like a splitting coaster) and you repeat some parts of the course.... naaaaaaaaaaahh

Here's a seemingly obvious question...when is some type of security fence going to be built between P2007 and the train tracks? Is anyone else surprised someone hasn't jumped off the CP&LE railroad yet into the construction zone. Is some kind of barrier there and I just haven't noticed? Just wondering..

For the record, guests are no longer permitted behind Undertake U. (ie: for taking a look at the construction), as preparations for HalloWeekends have begun.

I do. They close the back area off every year for HalloWeekends.

I saw the portable fencing along the building Monday and was afraid that's what was going to happen. Too bad, I loved standing back there and watching.

Does anyone think that the curve in the left side of this picture

http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=5473
could be the beginning of the coaster after the 1st launch? It seems to me that there is not much room for a lift hill and then a drop into this piece which means that the coaster would be all launch. Also it seems to me that there is a lot of empty space where there are no footers. For a land strapped park like CP wouldnt they want a more compact imprint like Mantis, Magnum, and Raptor. Just seems odd to me. O well, we will know in 7 days!

It would be really nice if the forums supported HTML links. It looks much better in a sentence than a full link. *** Edited 9/1/2006 12:40:20 AM UTC by SFGA=toilet***

Oops, sorry... Can't you tell I'm a bit out of it today...? I mean I did drive to the park just to take pictures of steel, essentially. ;)

Yes, I think that curve is going to be after the first drop. Yes, there is going to be a hill because the pieces are all laying in the staging area, including the crest of said hill.

Maybe the first drop is going to be unique?

What if It was stright down. Cedar Point does not have a stright down coaster with a lift hill.

Straight down

Ben there, done that ;)

But something past vertical...that would be something new. Only Eurofighters have drops greater than 90*. Maybe we'll be seeing a 100* drop? But no, that is about as unlikely as a hydraulic launch at this point.

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

sfga=toilet,

I wouldn't be suprised to see some type of huge element after the first hill-launch before going into that turn. Something along the lines of the first element on speed monster.

... only bigger :)
