Now if thats not proof of both the direction this coaster will be traveling, and the fact that this bottom section is a launch, then i dont know what is.

I think that in this area here you might expect to see one of those elevators. Cedar point keeps all their stations handicap accessable, and if we are indeed going to see a station on the top and not the bottom, i think we can expect to see a handicap elevator around here somewhere.

Also i think i have deduced the reason for the infamous 'waffle' piece. There are bolt holes through the sides of each vertical metal beam. Inside the hollow areas could be brake fins like you would find on Dragster. The reason fo rthe height of this waffle structure would be because like dragster they are retractable. This would act as a block brake for the ride. As the train came around the last bend a computer would know whether the previous train had cleared the block or not. Once the block is clear, the brake fins retract and as the train comes through it is not slowed. If the block is occupied the fins stay up and the train is slowed to a stop in that flat section of the launch, where it is moved into the launch once the block is clear. *** Edited 8/31/2006 6:50:52 PM UTC by Steve4Hockey***

Whomever took this set of pictures http://www.pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=5470 did an excellent job! Bravo!

The angles that you have are wonderful. The pictures are quite revealing. We just have to know the type of trains & it's sealed.

Trust me, there will be nothing special about the trains.

So what will it be?

Those transitions in the staight away appear angled and not curved. Does it really seem this way in person or are the photo's doing it justice? This would not seem to be a transition taken at much speed (ie...mid-course launch).
Just curious.
I was was think the same thing. You beat me to it...

There going to be normal intamin trains. That's all.

Maverick perhaps? I wanna RIDE ON.
The launch wont be until the uphill section. The train will coast into this area under its own power (i.e. not with a ton of speed) The downhill point will be where the block brake is and the flat part will be a waiting area before the launch should the block be occupied. Then once the train hits the uphill section it is launched, not before.
Edit: Oh happy 100th post birthday to me! Took two years but i finally made it.

Hi everyone-
So someone help me out here...after seeing the Aug 30 pictures, along w/ all the others...what's the layout here? I'm seeing probably a lift hill above the launch we're seeing, drop into the curve, go over the 70ft hill, around & through the two loops, then into the launch area, then over to the swan ponds and probably back into the loop area again & then end? that's roughly what it looks like to me...but someone w/ more knowledge & someone who's visited it...please let me know.
Thanks!

Hopefully they leave the prints out on some footers on Labor Day like they did last time I was taking pictures. Zoom lenses are an enthusiasts best friend in situations like those. ;)

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.
Your description lines up (no pun intended). I am hoping for a mid-course launch at a fair speed, similar to the last burst of speed on WT, with no mid course "pause". Acceleration rules.
I guess we will all know the truth soon.
So that's the way you're seeing it, Jeff? It's so hard to base the whole vision on just pictures...

Great pictures! This was one of the more exciting updates for me seeing everything start to come together.
I agree with Steve4Hockey's idea of the mid course launch/ block brake and waiting area. Thats what I was thinking. It is sort of hard to tell from the pictures if the downhill and straight sections are long enough to accommodate that idea, but I think so.
