Update: August 29

halltd, I have to say that I agree with you on the LIM/LSM. If those are indeed for a launch, the LIM/LSMs will be of a different design than what we've seen.

Most stations are on a decline.....;)

It just depends which way you're looking through the station ;).

And for everyone who thinks that there will be a tunnel in the station, CP already has 3 stations with tunnels under them.

Jugga,
There aren't any stations with tunnels under them that guests are taken through as part of the ride experience. This is what I'm hoping for in P2007.

Well, no one specified this, they just wanted a tunnel under the station.

I know, I was just being more specific. :)

Dead Men Tell No Tales

I'm sticking with the themed mid-course launch. Maybe it could have some theming similiar to this. http://rcdb.com/ig1903.htm?picture=24 I really hope Cedar Point takes advantage of some great theming on this ride; it seems like they have so many options with a "Wester Themed" Coaster

Since when is Frontier town/trail "western" themed? I always assumed it was frontier themed.....there is a big difference. ;)

I would love to see an abandoned mine shaft or similar tunnel, dark stonework, things like that. You're right, but "Maverick" is a western-style name. Also, the promo video stuff which *might* be true had prospector, cowboy, and gunslinger characters. It seems like CP is merging Frontier with Western.

Dead Men Tell No Tales

I have to leave soon; I have an appointment with my psychiatrist that I cannot miss.

Dorney: If there is 400ft of track for the lift than we can figure out the height of the hill. I will do the math for all of you. If its a 30 degree hill w/ 400 ft of track then by using the SIN of 30 * 400, then its a 200ft hill. If the angle is 45 degrees, ala MF, then by the SIN of 45 * 400, then its a 282ft hill. Trig finally pays off. *** Edited 8/30/2006 9:07:48 PM UTC by SFGA=toilet***

That appears to be the piece of track installed on-site. Doesn't look to have LIM attachment plates on top either.

They wouldn't install the LIMs until they could be covered from the weather. Also there is another piece of track like that in the background. I really wonder what that is for?

LIMs dont need to be covered from the weather.

Yeah, aren't Wicked Twister's LIM/LSMs outside and uncovered?

Mark

^You know it's etc., right?

What direction does the new track in the webcam seem to be going? Left? Right? Up?

MrInkspot@aol.com's avatar

Left and a little up.

Mark

Yeah, that's what I was thinking, considering you can't see the track banking/twisting really.

With a LIM propelled coaster the track does not have to be at an incline in the station. Volcano, at Kings Dominion, uses LIMs to move the train in the station. The track in unload block to the loading block is level. (Volcano has separate passenger load and unload areas in the station.)

Theoretically, couldn't the station be on the lower level? Granted, most "lift" hills are at the beginning of a ride, but if this is going to be a launched lift hill, then why couldn't IT be the mid-course launch?

If that were the case, you'd start on the lower track, launch, go through whatever it is they're going to built now, return to the TOP of the station, be launched up a big hill, get some sweet airtime at the top, then drop down, go through the S-curves, bunny hill, two inversions and then end.

What they have constructed so far "feels" like more like the end of a ride rather than the beginning.

Just a thought. :)

has anyone seen the staging area recently? Is there still a lot of track laying around or has most of the track been moved to the site and incorporated into the ride?
