I'm not sure if it belongs in the station. But, it sure does look like it's going to be part of a launch section: http://www.pointpixels.com/4images/details.php?image_id=7480

I was there yesterday, and saw them putting track inplace, it was pretty neat to see them do that. I saw them taking track back to i was like we have to see whats going on.

This is going fast now it seems, i just hope it will take them a long time to finish, if you know what i mean (meaning it will be long or big). It is so wired looking at the pictures for about 3 months now, and then finally going to see it in person. Definatley better to see the whole process in person then just in pictures.

Oh and Gravity, you should have been yesterday, the lines weren't really bad at all, it seemed that everyone was at gemini, corkscrew, mean streak, and the smaller but big rides. Millennium and TTD had great loading and unloading times, 1 1/2 hours for front, but power tower sucked it said 1/4 an hour wait and the line was on 2 turnstiles long and it took 1 1/2 hours to get on(only one side was running on both) and skyhawk was running both swings.

Great Pics guys, but like they said, even thought i wasn't there today and i can only imagine how much better that transition looks in person, these pics don't do justice to the WHOLE process get to the point and see them yourself (If you can atleast)

Can anyone tell me what looks pretty problematic about this scene?

Goodbye MrScott

John

That there is so much slack in the safety cable that if he did fall, it wouldn't save him; he'd hit the ground first.

^Uhm, if he falls that harness isn't gonna do him a lick of good? ;)

Well this piece looks like a launch piece

I saw that too Jugga and all I could think of was,

worker: well you see inspector he was bolting this here piece of track on and he lost his balance and busted his head open.

OSHA inspector: well he was wearing a hard hat, steel toed shoes and a saftey lanyard, I just don't understand how this could happen under the watchful eye of OSHA.

Well, now we now its gonna be western themed, I mean, they've already started bringing in some tumbleweed! lol ;)

I'd just like to know what kind of clearance issues cause a piece like this one:

I've never seen anything like that. Only thing I can imagine is some criss-crossing track to require that nonsense.

I've got to be honest. I really don't think "Maverick" looks all that impresive at this stage in the game and it may not even end up looking all that impressive when it's completed. However, I do think that the fact that it will most likely be a low lying coaster will make it feel extremly fast and furious. It's kind of like the difference in going 70 mph in a car and 70 mph on a motorcycle "perception" is everything. I just don't think this ride will be the type of ride that you just stand there and admire its construction. I always stand and admire the construction of Mean Streak and TTD. I truly appreciate all the hard work and time that has been spent by Walt and others in documenting the construction process.

Gravity, there's more than one of those in the staging area. I think I counted 3 or 4.

I think it looks quirky so far, but in a good way.

My guess is for a walkway area below it. There isn't enough width to clear a train through that.

As for that worker and his safety harness. That's a standard issue belt with a 10' lanyard. We've raised the same question about ours and our bucket trucks. If the truck is about to tip over, the last thing I would want is to be attached to it with a 10' lanyard. That's just what they've come up with I suppose.

eat. sleep. ride! - Coaster apparel and accessories!

Ride on, MrScott!

Couldn't they put some type of LIM/LSM motor in those gaps for maybe a midcourse boost or something?

The lower the coaster is the cheaper it was to manufacture. The cost of steel has climbed rapidly since the construction of MF and less height = less steel supports. Maybe they were able to conserve in this area, therefore; they could put that money into a launchsystem. A traditional lift mechanism would probably be cheaper than a launch system. Just Guessing!

Er, not trying to change topic or anything, but... Walt, I hope you realize that the gallery entitled "Project 2007 - 08.16.07"... It says that this is the year '07 already. I don't think ya meant that one, now did ya? ;)

Shawn - or even the difference just between a 1998 Ford Taurus and a 2004 Jaguar X-type. The difference is unbelievable, the Jag is so sweet! Only prob is, not mine, and she got sidewinded a bit harsh, screwed up the structure... Ouch.

You cant say that this ride looks bad when all we can see is a transition, a turn and a bunch of supports. Nobody can say anything good or bad about this ride until they announce what it is, or we see more.

Good Point. ;)
