Update: 6/2

The footers are no where near complete, at least from our speculations through possible track drawings, so it makes sense that this ride is going to be much bigger than we anticipated if CP Bound is correct, that they have to close off parts of the park near the end of the season to allow for more footers to be set.

For my sake and i'm assuming the rest of people here, i hope ur correct CP Bound

Hopefully however, it doesn't interfere with the arena of Frontiertown too much (which i know is a concern)

You can't forget their whole plan around TTD's annoucement. They said they were orginally going to annouce the ride in August, but the buzz around the mysterious attraction was so large they wanted to have fun with it. So they held everything off until January.

That's true, but they never came out and said when the announcement would be (for Dragster) prior to it, like they did this time. I have a feeling this time around they will be required to announce it because the construction will no longer be confined to one area like it is now and like it was with Dragster.

Plus, when you have all of the "genius" coaster enthusiasts working together to figure this thing out, the moment they start putting up supports we're going to get closer to the real layout and height every day that goes by. ;)

Three things you need to fix anything in the universe: duct tape, WD-40, and a hammer. Duct tape if it moves and it shouldn't, WD-40 if it doesn't move and should, and the hammer as the last resort.

Thats IF they begin vertical construction before the announcement.

I dont think that the Port Aventure Trains would fit this track based on 1 picture I took notice of.

http://pointbuzz.com/Gallery.aspx?i=3827

As you can see, this is an extremely quick bank or inversion on 1 piece of track (right side). This means that the train needs to be moving fairly slow to safely navigate (think the floorless coaster at Dorney with the inversion roll right out of the station), and the riders need to be positioned close to the heart line of the track to avoid large lateral g's.

It's amazing CP has built their last 4 coasters from Intamin AG and not any other great coaster manufacturers. (I would like to see a nice B&M coaster or even better yet, a nice GCI woodie to replace the teeth shattering Mean Streak.

Discuss.

When CP approaches Intamin, they design completely custom designs and even invent new ways just to make to make it perfect for the park. We saw this with MF (cable-lift), WT (super sized impulse), and TTD (hydraulic launch, TTD was in planning before Xcelerator).

From what I read about different manufacturs. Building a ride at a park like CP is an honor. The park is known for being at the leading of edge of technology and building "what's hot" at the time. If you have a ride that they like, every other park pays attention. I'm sure Intamin goes out of their way to make CP happy because of that.

I agree, Gomez - except for the reference to WT. That's not really a custom design. Its just bigger, basically. But I do agree with what you're saying about Intamin & coaster manufacturers.

Every other impulse except one has the exact same dimensions and do the same thing, and then WT came around. CP liked the concept but wanted something bigger and Intamin delivered. It is still the only impulse of its size and featuring two twist.

Right, but I'm just saying that WT is no different from Maggie, Gemini, CS, BS, etc, in that its just a bigger version of already-existing rides. Adding another element doesn't really make it a one-of-a-kind, per se.

Brandon

but it is still the only one in the world with two twist. so per se it is one of a kind. lol just messing with ya. I need sleep but i cant. I am on a sugar rush.

I don't know if this has been mentioned in any of these threads.... but could it be that this area is all sandy type dire. Thus, the soooner footers are poured the longer time they have to settle before any steel is bolted to 'em.

If they do rip out the cars that land may be more solid, thus, they could wait until Memorial Day weekend to close them for good before beginning site work there !!!!

As to the WWL footers, I they could easily be knocked out, but maybe CP knew they would not be in the way and thus, leave them up to keep us all guessing !!!

My question is why did they take the time to cut into WWL's concrete catch water basin vs breaking it all up unless they intend to re-use it?!?!

just a mind lapse for say, they could use wwl footers as scenery if they use a western/old theme forsay. Like an abandon ride, like in the old movies. just a thought.

Gomez's avatar

Anybody think the footers were to close to the old station to dig up?

Wicked Twister wasn't even that big of a jump in size. Only 25-30 feet. I don't think that that counts as a "super-size" model.

The whole peninsula is made of sand. That beach aint just there for show!

Topthrill420, apparently that was Intamin's thought on the matter, but boy did that cost them. Can you say structurally flawed ride...?

All I was saying was that WT was different and unique from all the other impulses. MF and TTD apply more to what I said than WT; I wasn't expecting someone to stress over that.
