Yeah, X Flight's restraints tightened up as the train progressed through the course. They are very comfortable restraints aside from that.

I saw some pics of the cars, and I could be wrong here, but it almost looked like there is a flat piece of leather or something larger then a belt to restrain? am I just looking at it wrong? can someone explain how it would be setup?
There's a "vest" of sorts that attaches inside of the "cage" of the restraint. The primary restraint is still the part that rests on your thighs, and I'm not entirely sure why they have the vest part. As others have said, it does tend to tighten down on you throughout the course of the ride to some extent.

X-Flight is the only coaster that I could not marathon on for that very reason. The first ride was "what the heck was that?", the 2nd ride was "I hurt", the 3rd ride was "this must be what a heart attack feels like". That was all I could take.
I wouldn't be that dramatic. I did about a dozen straight rides on Wild Eagle, and it wasn't the restraint that was getting to me, it was the G's in the valleys and turns.

The restraints for these wing coasters sound similar to Maverick's where they clamp down harder on your thighs as the ride goes on to the point where you're sitting in discomfort on the brake run. Do the B&M restraints also have issues with head banging like Maverick? It looks like the 'over-the-shoulder' part of the restraint isn't close to your head but I was just curious if anyone who has ridden Wild Eagle or X-Flight could confirm this.
The lap part of the wing coaster trains is not where people are having the most problems. The main complaint is coming from the "soft" straps that retract to fit different size riders. I've been on both Wild Eagle and X-Flight and didn't experience any noticeable stapling or headbanging. But different people have different experiences so it's impossible to say that it'll be a 100% enjoyable across the whole board.

the top of the vest are hooked/ sowed into a seat belt type mechanism. You can kind of see this in the photos of the trains.
The tightening I experienced on Wild Eagle was like when you extend a seat belt far enough it locks and doesn't release, unless you take the seat belt all the way off. The problem with this on a coaster is the only time to take it off is when you're in the station.
The pain I experienced was more in my collarbone then anywhere else and it was more of an annoyance, then excruciating pain.

I don't get it. 6-2, 165...so yeah I'm tall and thin...(I would think the height is more of a factor here)...and I thought it was one of the more comfortable rides I've ever had.
But, around and around we go.

The only issue I had with the Wild Eagle restraint wasn't how tight it got, but that the seam between the semirigid 'vest' and the adjustable strap laid right against the top of my shoulder, and on the right hand side dug right into the bump in my clavicle (from where I broke it back in 1987).
If hey just took a pair of shears and removed that bit completely, it would make for a very good restraint design.

So if people say that restraints on a certain ride suck they are all complainers? If i owned a coaster company i for one would like to hear feedback from the people who ride them! Apparently intamin does because they changed the ones on I305 and are trying to get the ones on skyrush right. Why would a park spend 20 million on a ride that is painful to its guests?
I don't know, because this isn't that ride.

^^Just nitpickin here but it was the parks that made those decisions. They worked with Intamin to see what changes could be made.

If Intamin listened to all of the feeback and changed their restraint systems for all complainers, nobody would have trouble getting on WT, Dragster, and Millennium Force. Granted those are mainly seatbelt problems, but you get the point. As long as the harnesses keep me safe while giving me enough room, I'm cool with sitting on the brakes outside of the station with a little discomfort on my legs. Its really not that serious. Also if Intamin changed their restraints according to the feedback, Maverick wouldn't be so tight on the legs either at the end of the ride. Yes it is uncomfortable sometimes, but we all still go back and ride it again
I'm going to bet that if there were actually a significant amount of complaints, a change would be made (i.e. Skyrush). That said, there are some changes that can be made, and some that cannot for legal reasons/concerns which change from state to state.
That said, let me just say these trains look so impressive. I can't wait to see this lighting package in action.

^ Kevin do you happen to know if Skyrush will be open for the 2013 season at Hershey? I haven't heard anything from all these coaster fan sites. Also every summer I see people get off Millennium Force all pissed off because of the seat belt policy that Intamin has on it. In regards to what TwistedWicker77 said, in some instances, Intamin doesn't care. That's why that rule is still in affect for Millennium Force.
I don't know about that. I'm not at all trying to be snarky, but how many people simply whine at the park or a forum like this instead of actually speaking to someone at the park?
The seat belt policy is something I have zero inside knowledge of, but I would actually think that's one of those things that can only be altered so much.
