Interesting to note that the leg guards have been slightly re-designed. Compare the leg guards on Swarm and GateKeeper:http://rcdb.com/9820.htm?p=38791
http://pointbuzz.com/Photos/Photo.aspx?id=8777The GateKeeper leg guards won't curve nearly as far in front of the leg as the ones on Swarm. Gives hope to the possibility that B&M also made some modifications to the vests that some complain about tightening too much during the ride.
Nope. No change in leg guards. The leg guards on the first car are bigger on all Wing Coasters.
Aah darn :( Why is that? Doesn't seem like riders' legs are any closer to anything in the front as opposed to the other rows.
^ I have no idea why. I can certainly put my legs out just as far in rows 2-8 as I would be able to in row 1. Let's not point this out to B&M though, or all the rows will get the big guards ;)
If there is one thing that B&M does better than most other ride manufacturers it is the quality of its restraints. Seems to me that the leg guards on GK will allow the riders legs to extend freely without allowing them to move toward the track since the guards on the other wing riders curve in front of the riders legs. Looks good to me.
The leg guard on the front extends quite away forward so therefore your legs won't bang into it. Front seat leg guard as shown in the pictures on stay on point blog couple weeks back showed that the front leg guard longer than the ones on the rest of the rows. cedarpoint.com/stayonpoint/blog.
I'm not sure if anyone has mentioned this, but GateKeeper will be Cedar Point's first rollercoaster with a chain lift since Mantis was built in 1996.
1999- Woodstock Express- No chain.
2000- MF- No chain.
2002- Wicked Twister- No chain
2003- TTD- No chain
2007- Maverick- No chain
2013- GateKeeper- Chain
Coincidental that its also the first B&M since Mantis? Stick with what works!

Eat 'em up, Tigers, eat 'em up!
Also, gatekeeper will be the first not to have a launch since 2000
The Crystal Method is the only way to find The Winner!
You mean since 2002? :)

It will also be the first roller coaster to open on time since...well...it feels like a while. :)
Promoter of fog.
GateKeeper is actually ahead of schedule, isn't it? My Dad just texted me that the news ran a story about how GateKeeper construction has been hurt by the poor weather. I just viewed it myself here:
http://www.13abc.com/story/21750420/cold-weather-impacts-gatekeeper...edar-point
It does say that they are where they need to be in construction at the end, but I don't get the point of the negative spin here, talking about all the delays. If it was a construction update, shouldn't it have focused on what has been completed?
Well the title does say "Weather impacts Gatekeeper construction at CP" so it makes sense that they would talk about the delays. It wasn't so much of a construction article.

I guess you're right, but I'm still not sure why they ran this story. I guess there weren't enough shootings, rapes, fires, robberies, and accidents to report today.
