Hahahahaha although I think you mean 1.21 Jigawatts, at least if I am thinking of the quote correctly.
Actually, it is 1.21 Gigawatts (with a G).
Back in 84 when the movie was being filmed, Giga was not a common prefix, and no one on set knew how to pronounce it. Christopher Lloyd said it in a way that made sense.
Unfortunately (or maybe fortunately) his pronunciation doesn't match current commonly accepted pronunciation, so it sounds like he is talking about a factor much larger than Giga.

I would doubt any claims of efficiency just judging by the amount of heat that thing puts out. The little motor pulling Millennium Force up the lift certainly isn't putting out that kind of heat.
When you walk past the room where the hydraulics are located, I think you can see all the heat escaping during a launch.

I love looking at old forum posts. It feels like i'm a time traveler or something.
And I love clicking on posts that turn out to be from last decade and were resurrected for absolutely no reason at all.
I rather enjoyed this resurrection! Really funny to see the doom and gloom from 2005!! Seems they figured TTD out and it isn't going anywhere, and that 500 footer that is going to render it obsolete hasn't come to fruition yet either!
I am so confused why people get so butthurt when an old thread is “resurrected”. Doesn’t it make more sense to do that than making a whole new thread of basically the same exact topic?
Resurrect an old thread: "Why bring up a topic from x years ago?!!111!!!"
Start a new thread: "Ever hear of the search function??!!!!!1!!!1!"

Exactly! It’s just like how CP can’t please everybody. There’s always going to be that group that needs to chime in. If I remember correctly, Jeff mentioned that starting a new thread that is the same topic as an old one takes up a lot of room. In turn, I’m sure costs more money.
Going back to Dragster, there's always that lingering thought in my head that TTD will end up like Hypersonic XLC: there's too much downtime and high maintenance costs to be worth the park's time and money. However, that thought lessens every year as Dragster's uptime increases. Heck, I was shocked at how consistent it was running this year. Plus, with the direction of new roller coasters pointing toward higher quality rides with smaller footprints than mega machines, TTD will be the only strata that Cedar Fair will have for decades. It wouldn't be worth tearing it down.
I agree that TTD has been running excellent lately, little shaky in the beginning of the year, but it seemed to work its bugs out.
I had the opportunity to ride Kingda Ka at Six Flags this summer and it was horrible. Over the shoulder restraints were bad, very rough, very typical Six Flags situation build a new ride and let it slowly deteriorate.

What are you talking about? 2020 (150th anniversary!) Cedar Point is getting a 500+ ft supercoaster with the station where Witches' Wheel was and the turnaround somewhere near the Marblehead peninsula.

I have also noticed how much more reliable Dragster has been this year. I hope the ride stays as long as possible since it is the first 400 foot coaster.
As for 500 feet, I really hope so. Maybe Gemini would have to come down if the station is placed where Witches Wheel used to be... and I wouldn't be surprised. The Gemini banner that says "the twins are over the hill" reminds me of the ride's age and it may be getting closer to the grave. Yet, I hope I'm wrong about Gemini. It is my favorite racing coaster.
