Excuse my ignorance... It's been 6 years since I've posted in this forum, and almost that long since I've been to Cedar Point, so I'm out of the loop... Is there still a possibility of a new track layout for this ride? Second tower or something?
Also, love the dark gray supports!
Some people have a weird definition of "cryptic."

Excited to see track installation! It appears to be the original Intamin track with new paint, hard to say if any modifications were done to it. I doubt CP sent it away for just paint. Possibly the fins are new and repositioned but not obvious in the photos. Looking forward to learning if Intamin or Zamperla own the rebuild.
Circling back to the large crane on site a few weeks back. They must have plans for the tower, so knocking out ground level work seems like a good task for the summer weeks, allowing for tower and spike work in the off-season.

Yes, it is possible; here’s the story so far. There is evidence that may suggest a reverse spike track could be installed on the launch side. Three new footers have been installed in Iron Dragon’s lagoon, which form a very large triangle. The top point of this triangle lines up with TTD’s launch track trajectory, which could be suggestive of a new triangular support tower. In addition, a rectangular footer with two support mounts has been installed closer to TTD’s former station, again lining up with TTD’s launch track trajectory.
Below is a picture of the triangle I mentioned.
Additionally, here is the rectangular footer, on the other side of the chain link fence around Iron Dragon’s track. (Sorry for the bad picture; it’s difficult to see, so I’ve circled it in yellow. You can see the bolts sticking up vertically from that footer. You can also see how the top point of the footer triangle and the rectangular footer line up with the launch track trajectory.)
Since these new footers line up with the launch track trajectory, this may suggest that a reverse spike for the launch track could be installed to form a so-called “swing launch,” where the train would launch both forwards and backwards, much like how Wicked Twister operated. One possible swing launch sequence would go like this: the train launches forwards and travels partway up the top hat, rolls back, then launches backwards down the launch track and travels up the new reverse spike, rolls back on the spike, and then finally launches forwards again down the launch track and travels up and over the top hat.
I hope cedar point goes down the full Zamperla options sheet and adds all of the optional packages. ;)
Sit tight fellas ;)
You know cp's looking at the automotive industry's heated seat upcharge and wondering how to get in on that.

That's awesome! Thanks for the reply and information!
The coaster enthusiast part of me really hopes the spike is 500ft so Cedar Point and Cedar Fair can claim the first to that height mark.
Falcon’s flight is currently in construction and its camelback is proposed to be 535ft-ish off the ground. So it will be short lived if it even happens.
Call it whatever (maybe blind patriotism) but I don’t like the idea of a country (Saudi Arabia) packed full of human rights violations taking the record first.
Again - speaking as a coaster enthusiast, not an expert on global politics.
Personally, I don't care how tall the spike is, I hope that there is a quick transfer track ala Pantheon. If the transfer track is like Ice breaker then I would imagine the capacity would be a nightmare.
What are your thoughts on how a quick transfer track could work? Trying to picture it in my head with the spike footers aligning with the existing track.
I could imagine it being outside the station on the front end with the spike track going above the station.
Now, that's just in my head without looking at the land and what would be necessary to make that happen, so I could be way off.
I think the old station is going to be multi-purpose. There will be a load station as well as a fly-through for the spike/swing launch. Riders will load closer to the right of the old station, s curve into the old launch track, and then swing launch through the old load area.
I have included a drawing.
