I personally love Mantis and try to ride it a few times each trip.
This will NEVER happen, but my dream would be a bigger...badder....faster....longer version of a coaster like Gemini. I love the hybrid wood-frame steel track combo. Just a pipe-dream!
I dont think ive ever ridden a B & M i didnt like.
I hate Mantis and so do my "brothers". I hope to never ride that ride again.

It all depends on how you postion yourself in the seat.... errr.... stand..... you know. Anywho, I would love a floorless.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete
After riding Dominator this year, I think a floorless would also get my vote.
OK I got it. A hybrid, wood-frame, steal track coaster like Gemini, that breaks all the floorless world records. :) Too much to ask?
I'm not really interested in any flying or 4D new type rides, I think a floorless, or even a standard out-and-back sit down B&M like Goliath at La Ronde would be perfection.
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

It could be named The Cat Burglar.

Goodbye MrScott
John
So In other words you want to bring the first wooden hybrid floorless coaster? Am I reading this right?
Ever since I was a kid, I always loved the Gemini and the Mine Ride...I love the ride of a steel (ahem...not s.t.e.a.l.) coaster, but I love the look of a wooden coaster...so for myself, it's the perfect mix. Above I had mentioned how I liked the floorless feel (Dominator is the only one I have ever been on)...so it was more of a joke.
Whatever goes into WWL's slot, if I was designing it, would have a Frontier feel to it, and I have a hard time imagining something purely steel having a Frontier look.
Doesn't MF wander through Frontier trail? Last time I checked, it was steel.

My point exactly MrScott...I wouldnt exactly call MF something that looks like it "fits" into a Frontier theme...would you? But it doesnt have to, as its origin is really not in Frontier Land.
What I meant to express is that it may be harder to make something 100% steel fit into the Frontier theme. Not that it couldnt be done. Like I said, if it was my call, whatever goes into the WWL area would have to be Frontier-Like...to keep up the feel of the area, and I think it will.

You realize wooden supports would never be able to hold up a floorless coaster right? Besides, I think it'd look really dumb.
Another possible one is a B&M Sitdown twisted steel coaster(Kumba)

CP already has two out-and-back steel non-loopers that are classics (though not B&Ms). Do they really need a third?
Of the options listed above, a record-breaking dueling coaster would be great, whether B&M flying or floorless in the style of DD at IoA. Each would be unique and something no other park could offer.
A record-breaking 4-D would also work well. CP and the surrounding area have nothing like that, while they have both a floorless and a Vekoma flyer less than 2 hours away at GL. However, the mechanical nightmare known as X isn't soon to be forgotten, and I'm wondering whether CP really wants another Dragster-level downtime ride on their hands. The same thing goes for an Intamin...well, anything. I think CP is done with them for a good, long while.
A water coaster? Ehh...I suppose. I don't really care for water rides, personally, and though it would make "sense" with the removal of WWL, I just don't see it happening (call it a hunch), especially with SRF and TC still operating in the immediate vicinity. If they announce it in 10 months, I'll stick some crow in the microwave.
I'd really like to see a quality woodie go in back there...something like Raven or Legend. But since those aren't the tallest/fastest/longest rides, I doubt CP would be interested. Mean Streak just doesn't cut it for me. *** Edited 1/26/2006 3:00:54 AM UTC by HoosierTTD***
Again, the "floorless wooden/hybrid" thing was just a joke. And dont worry, Hoosier, Mean Streak doesnt cut it for a lot of people.
The great thing about this is that there is so much land freed up from WWL, the options are pretty much endless.
Just think about the companies and what they have to offer. Intamin? They dont have any products CP doesnt already have. B & M? Well, we have no floorless or flyer, so that leaves that door open pretty wide I would say (but as Hoosier noted there's a floorless and a flyer right down the road at GL). But then there's S & S/Arrow.
Think about this: Kinzel relied on Arrow for his first record breaker and it is now a legend. Would he want to go out with Arrow with another record breaker? The second 4-D coaster is now being built over in Japan, and the buzz is that they have the "kinks" worked out so that it isnt the mechanical nightmare at SFMM. I think Hoosier makes a good point in that there is no 4-D coaster anywhere NEAR here. And while X is a mechanical nightmare, the coaster enthusiast folks I know who have ridden say it is an absolutely amazing experience.
To anyone who has been on a dueling coaster...while it may look cool from the ground, does it make any difference being on it?
To me, the water coaster idea is just flat out...well...out. Look at Kinzel's track record and I think you can sum up his last ride with 2 words; faster and taller.

See now that's what I want. After being on Dragster 113 times, the only thing on my mind is "Can it be topped??"......ignoring Kingda Ka....I just don't like that coaster, it's a rip-off (now that's my opinion, I'm not trying to start an argument).
But for now, a 500+ footer is just a fanboy's wish.:)

I'm probably the biggest supporter of a new woodie, however, with Mean Streak right next to that "prime piece of real estate", I don't really see it happening. Say Disaster Transport disappears in the near future, why not throw in a nice 'Cyclone' type woodie, didn't the old Cyclone stand there 60 years ago?
I will take what ever CP offers (obviously, I have no choice). The past two coasters have been launch, so I assume that idea is out. Millennium and Magnum are two excellent steel out and backs, as it has been said already so I think we're set for a while. B&M has never been a trouble maker, so I vote for a floorless looper, or standard sit down looper. Bring on the inversions!
We'll miss you MrScott and Pete

You forgot about a B&M Diver. Not to many of those around these parts either. Perfect space for one, you could get a very tall dive coaster in that space. That is what I would like to see.
Would a really tall coaster look good back there though?
It might clash with the surroundings....

I am very appreciative of CP and all of their coasters. More than that, I'm glad I was born in the Northeast, where I am pretty "close" to MANY of the VERY BEST parks and coasters IN THE WORLD!
Mantis: worst B&M (rough) I've ridden (sorry. truth)
MeanStreak: Beautiful. Worthless. Burn it!
I would love to see a 4D. But what ever Dick brings.... that sounded... umm. ...will be something I will have to be there on opening day to experience, I'm sure!

I support your idea the most over every sugguestion I heard on this page. Dick Kinzel did say that putting that ride in was a mistake, so he may try to redeem himself by closing that at the end of the season and making way for a wooden coaster along the beach like a Cyclone. If that happens make it a hybrid, supports steel and track wood. We'll just have to wait and see what Cedar Point has up their sleeves.
As far as building a floorless/Flyer, there are a lot of people that come from Michigan and Indiana and Northwestern Ohio. These people don't visit Geauga Lake unless they are coaster enthusiast like us. Odds are most families that live in this area will go to Cedar Point, not Geauga Lake. So to me, a floorless still makes sence in the former WWL spot.
