I truly didn't think they would get rid of it. Oh well. I'm sure if CP is getting rid of a ride this big, it can only be for the good of the park. I've yet to ride it this year... Saturday is now Salute to WWL day for me.

Hardly surprising. Now, all we have to do is wait until next year to hear about the "future" plans.

Brandon

So, who thinksthe next ride will be a screamin swing now??? I bet you there is another coaster coming if not next year defintely the year after. White Water Landign takes up quite a bit of space. More than would be needed for a screamin swing!!!

Sorry to see WWL go, one more ride this Saturday as well. Probably be a cold ride! They must have some massive plans for this area as discussed here, the wait is on...

I think that they're still getting a Screaming Swing. They're getting rid of WWL to make room for a later expansion.

Next year we'll probably see a big, tall fence surrounding the WWL site at some point, if not early, in the season.

Looking at the markings in the area and the footprint size of the now terminal WWL, its looking to be a big, bad coaster for '07. So, we'll probably hear another announcement regarding the SS by the end of the year, and then the l-o-n-g waiting and watching game begins.

Whats this one gonna be called? Area 52? ;)

Doesn't it violate some rule of amusement parks to not have a log/canoe ride? and WWL was one of the better ones.

I really don't see a screaming swing going in. I still hold by my original guess of it being a coaster/flume interweaved design. Almost like a coaster dueling a flume.

They could do an interweave with a water coaster and a real coaster. As much as I love flumes, WC's seem to be the next "big" thing in terms of H2O rides...

For once, I am not totally disappointed. I'll take Snake River Falls over White Water Landing any day.

That's the problem with them at the same time. Flumes are tried, tested and passed. WC's (to me anyway) seem gimicky, kinda like stand-ups. Even though I love Mantis, I'm a little worried about CP jumping on another coaster bandwagon.

I hear ya on that, Jugga. A WC is just a SRF with a track... so far, at least. Haven't really seen any good executions when it comes to design with WC's at other parks.

Brandon

I am disappointed. I love White Water Landing. I love riding it because it does not get you very wet. I don't like riding the other two because they you will be very wet all day long. I understand its for future development. I hope it is something big then. Then I won't be mad.

It seemed that WWL was already on its last legs---People Who Know were talking about it disappearing after the 2004 season. I think MaxAir and the deferral of Kinzel's "water ride" gave WWL a repreive.

It's not the best flume I've ever been on (the two in Orange County, CA are both much more entertaining, for example), but it's certainly better than average. More importantly, it was one of the small number of attractions in the park that the whole family could experience *together*. It and Ocean Motion are possibly the only "thrilling" attractions that fit this bill, unless one finds the sky ride/giant wheel thrilling.

It will be interesting to see if its eventual replacement is also family-friendly.

So how long will this process take?

I guess the plan now is by the opening in 2006 we will have two things accomplished:

1) Screamin Swing installed somewhere

2) WWL cleared to begin construction on the 2007 project.

But how long does it take to "remove" WWL? 3 months? Id like to see a webcam of "Deconstruction". Id like to see how its done.

JuggaLotus's avatar

Shouldn't take more than a couple weeks to remove WWL, especially if they are just scrapping it.

And why are people up on the nuts of a screamin swing so hard? I would consider the installation of one (except maybe in Challenge Park) as one of the all-time worst decisions for the park. This is mostly because they JUST INSTALLED A SIMILAR RIDE LAST YEAR. I know they aren't the same (one spins), but they are both pretty darn close.

Im not "up on the nuts" of installing a Screamin Swing either.

But the fact that we have a Screamin Swing (or at least the top of one) sitting in the parking lot is kind of a clue to the idea that we're getting one.

I dont think its a bad idea at all. No, its not a big coaster, but I think we can see now that something "big" is indeed coming. We just have to be patient...

djDaemon's avatar

Word, Jugga.

I'd have to think that the SS is part of a larger package, hopefully not spread out over multiple years, as the cost of a "small" flat can't possibly max out CP's Visa card. I would welcome the SS, along with a few other flats... perhaps a Giant Top Spin, Jump^2, Delerium, Topple Tower, etc. It would be nice to see the boardwalk littered with "new" and exciting flats - would really add to the carnival theme they supposedly want up there.

Brandon

I just hope whatever they replace WWL with fits into the Frontier Town theme.

Personally, I preferred WWL over SRF and TC because I'm no longer keen on getting soaked and walking around in wet clothes all day long.

Since they are trying to dump Demon Drop, wouldn't a Screamin' Swing fit nicely in it's place?

I would imagine whatever is replacing WWL will be for the 2007 season. I seem to recall Kinzel saying he planned to go out big when he retired.

Your decision about "the top of one" is based on some object covered by a blue tarp in the parking lot. When I first looked at it, I thought it was new coaster cars.

dj, I have to agree with you regarding the addition of some of the other Huss Giants. They would definitely fit in really well in the maXair area.

Goodbye MrScott

John

I hope we dont get a Scream'n Swing. Although I agree with you, Huss Giants would be good for the park.
