to old emp.s: i arrive two weeks early.. why?

Hey everyone.. I just wanted to know why CP has me arriving two weeks before the park opens.. I'm in foods btw. Is there a lot of training for servers or what?

I believe you may be among the lucky workers who gets to see the transformation the park makes for the 2 weeks prior to openind day. They will have you guys clean a bunch of stuff, and you'll get to go places you probably won't be able to for the rest of the season.

Prepare to get dirty! Work crew can be awesome. While it's 2 weeks of cleaning, It's a great chance to meet a ton of fellow staff members. If your new to Cedar Point, or any job you get a little nervous. It's good to get some of those nerves takin care of before the season starts.

I actually find it the best time of working at CP, the time before the park opens and the time after. The working 8-4 or 9-5 depending on the department and working Monday-Friday. Some people actually start back mid-March and stay till mid-November.

After working at an amusement park for nine years it is the pre and post season work i miss the most. The people you work with during these times are the ones you remember the most... in good and bad ways. By the way i too worked in foods. And if i had to do it all over again i wouldn't have changed a thing.

I can say i have formed a pretty good bond with a few of the guys i worked with and was friends with during set up in 2003. We were always hangin out with eachother and such. the Thursday before the park opened we were in an accident right at the causeway and first street, needless to say, a bond we wont forget. But its still ALMOST as fun working while the park is open ;)

To rookies in work crew, Be very careful on the causeway when the park is not open. It's the one time I always saw Cedar Point Police pulling everyone over for speeding. It's kinda funny because they don't do it much at all during the season. But I sure noticed it in April. After all most of us all work the same hours during work crew. And don't hit the birds! It's a big fine!

oh my what am i getting myself into? What's a causeway?

Causeway??

You must be a rookie. The causeway or midway is the walkway through the park. While closed people drive all sorts of vehices through a park.

You must be the rookie gener. The causeway is the road that takes you to Cedar Point. It is outside the park not in it.

WELCOME TO THE TEAM! Up until two years ago, I used to do the whole seasonal thing, but now, I can't afford it (the normal job pulls in too much money), plus my partner wouldn't like me being away for such a long time!

Anyway, I'm sure you'll have a great time. Don't be put off by all of these meanies chuckling at your ignorance (really, Jeff! You should be kind to these newbs!! :)) Just have fun cleaning, and yes, you'll *DEFINITELY* want some old clothes that you don't mind getting destroyed.

Have a great season!!!

Where are the queens at?

And bring a heater if you're staying the Cedars. You'll need it.
