This Pertains to dress code and random drug tests

I was surprised at how quickly those results came! The guy looked at the cup for about 3 seconds, and said, "Alright, you're clean." I'm like, "That's it?" He goes, "Why, you think something should've come up?"

Those guys were funny. As I was walking into the bathroom to pee this one officer goes, "Remember, you fail the test, and we arrest." I'm like, "Right." Not that I'd have to worry about anything anyway.

Paying $50 - $90 a test for random drug testing is a lot chaper than being sued. Even if a lawsuit is "won" it is going to be more expensive just due to the attorneys and court costs.

It is like having cameras in public spaces at the hotels. It likely doesn't stop much crime but it goes a long way to showing that the hotels take reasonable measures to keep guests safe.

My post may have been a bit misleading. My company still does do pre employment drug screens, and screens if there is an injury/property damage accident. The random ones were eliminated because they rarely came back positive. And we test hair, not urine...a more expensive, but more accurate test. You'd have to shave every hair off your body to pass that one, if doing drugs.

Of course, our work force in considerbly older than CP's and most have famililes. Drug use is less in the 30's and 40's, than in the teens/20's.

Hair sampling isn't more accurate. It does keep remains from drug use longer though.

Cedar Point test everyone that works in departments where needed beforehand. Afterwards they do "not so random sampling." They give out enough randoms just to justify when they need to get rid of someone.

I can look into someones eyes and tell if they've used many drugs. It's not hard for me to put work performance and that fact together and know if they've been doing them recently.

The US military drug tests all of the time. Very little drug use there.

They test all of the time because they dont have to pay for it. You do.

P/S-If you use drugs in the military and get caught, thats not goin to look good when you apply for a job and they do a background check and find that you were 'dismissed from your duties' because you were caught doing drugs.

Make no mistake. I despise drug testing. But it is an effective deterrent. Actually the Cedar Fair customer is paying for the drug test!

It all comes down to, which is more important? Getting high, or a job?

Anyone can look into someones eyes and tell if someone has been using drugs. It's not some sort of gift.

Crack and smack are whack. But I would much rather have an employee that smoked pot than drank alcohol all the time. Who cares what employees do on their own time anyway?

More Alcohol related deaths than Marijuana related deaths every year anyway.

And then there's me who doesn't see the need to consume alcohol or any other recreational drugs in the first place. :P

I'm not hiring the marijuana user. If he can't follow a law who is to say he can follow policies and procedures?

Listen, my brother smoked a lot of pot in his day. He'd never listen to my warnings and what not. So now, 4 years after he still can't get the job he wants because it requires a drug test and security clearance background check. He is going to try and get it together.

Not too mention how much money he has smoked away in his life. If he had invested all that money in an interest bearing account he would be loaded...in a much better way.

I can see the following from a CP ride op:

“ Hey dude, like you can’t bring that bag on the ride man. It’s like totally un-cool dude.” Or a movie called Bill and Ted’s excellent summer job.

How can anyone use the ‘personal time’ defense. If you commit a crime during your ‘personal time’, how can I trust you won’t do it while working. Would you put a thief to work at cash control, a sex offender as a lifeguard. While I do know people who use drugs for recreation uses, I don’t trust these people for my personal safety. Would you hand your keys to your car to a drunk?

As any ride op would tell you, it only takes one mistake to change your life forever. And that same mistake could shake Cedar Fair worse. That’s why they check the belt or harness for every rider even thought it never failed in some cases for 25 years. It only takes once.

While I never worked a ride before, I’ll bet most accidents happened when someone didn’t follow safety procedures. Face the facts that most drugs relax your mind. And the last thing I would want to hear ’ Oops , I forgot to check it.’

I have a landscaping bussiness,I do pay a little more than minimum wage but if I were to have to drug screen my seasonal help I would be in a mess because in this area the pot smokers and drunks are the only ones willing to work for that kind of money.I have never heard of anybody getting themselves killed while planting flowers or shrubs or running a weedeater,so safety isn't that big of an issue. If I were to be hiring for ride ops then drug testing would be an issue along with appearance.BUT on the turn around in order to find and keep employees of that nature the money is what it takes. As far as the guy with the grill or whatever,I don't really think that is the image cp is looking for imo.You could always try six flags though.

I sure hope you don't get hired if you are worried about drug testing! That would be scary. Makes me feel real safe!

Hmm..as someone who enjoyes riding the rides at CP, I would ask you NOT to apply to be a ride operator!

Employees must be clean shaven. If you have a mustache when you apply it was be kept neat and trim. You cannot start growing a mustache during the season if you didn't start with one.

But again, perhaps the place isn't for you if you are worried about the drug testing.

I grew a mustache after I had my ID picture taken in 5/80. I kept the mustache until I was married the 2nd time in 2001. It came off but the memories of CP have stayed on. Funny that no one ever bothered me about the mustache being different from the ID. I did stay out of most everyones way however.

If you're worried about drug tests, get in a dept that doesn't drug test. I think that pretty much anything that doesn't have to do with safety is OK, like merchandising.

Merch may not have a test right off the bat like some depts. That doesn't mean you can't get a random and fired for it later. Trust me. It's happened. People in merch get tested all the time.
