Umm yeah. I was a ride op and only got tested once - when I processed in. I didn't do anything for 2 weeks before I processed in and I was fine :) I also didn't do anything while working there for fear of being tested. As I said, I didn't get tested again, but I knew of other that did. They were immediately called from their ride location to be tested.
If you're worried about drug tests, get in a dept that doesn't drug test. I think that pretty much anything that doesn't have to do with safety is OK, like merchandising.
And the grill. I'm 19 and I cringe every time I see it. If it was real, it wouldn't be so bad (they got money, let em be stupid). Most of the time I know it's fake so I just roll my eyes and look on. Unfortunately I see this in Orlando alot, along with employees on their cell phones. If Universal had even half of Cedar Points policies I don't think any of them would still have a job.
They did more drug tests this last year than ever. And people were not passing at an alarming rate! Some I feel were random, some I feel were because you hang or room with someone busted with drugs.

And the drug testing will lower the rate of drug use. Trust me on this. Sounds like management is pretty serious about this. We had none of that nonsense in my day. Times change.

Trust you? I wouldn't do that...
Evidence supported by a legitimate source might be usefull. A government or educational study for example. On the other hand, that fact could easily be placed on the 'common sense' shelve.
While I couldn't care less what ride ops do in their off time, I don't want someone getting high while at work when it could mess with other's safety. IMO, drug testing should happen when there is reasonable cause to suspect or when there is damage to life or property.
Random testing is a waste of company resources and causes much more problems than it solves.
The company I work for discontinued random testing years ago. I can't tell you how much money that has been saved, but at $50.00-$90.00 for each test, I'm sure it's a substantial amount.

You have a valid point MrScott but the random testing is a deterant for employees to do the drugs in the first place.

The US military drug tests all of the time. Very little drug use there.

They test all of the time because they dont have to pay for it. You do.

P/S-If you use drugs in the military and get caught, thats not goin to look good when you apply for a job and they do a background check and find that you were 'dismissed from your duties' because you were caught doing drugs.
I will now return to my duties as a garbage man.

Cedar Point has you pee in a cup, then they peel a tab on the cup. If one of 4 windows turns the wrong color, you flunk. Oh yeah, it takes the temp too.
I really doubt these cups cost too much. If you don't pass, they offer the chance to re-test at the hospital. Which I've been told no one has taken advantage of. If you don't pass the generic test, face it, your busted.
What no one seems to mention is most CP employees are addicted to one drug... alcohol ! And to say that it isn't in their system the following morning at 8 am is funny. But I guess it's easy to look the other way on that one.
