This clip answears A LOT of questions!

I think they will have water jets in the lagoon that will jet water at the train as it passes.

MrScott (who really does not know any more than you)

That's an intriguing idea and could be incorporated well if a train design like this was to be used. Although Intamin rides recently have been known to maintain a quick steady pace throughout the ride, so getting hit by water jets at a substantial speed may hurt just a little bit for some people ;)

^ Riding front seat of Raptor in the rain was a little painful. Fun and wet, but painful.

New Season of 'The Office'. TONIGHT!!!

Now you know why they close TTD in the rain. :)

My opinion, water rides should stay in water parks and roller coasters should be kept in amusment parks.

Honestly, I only enjoy waters rides when I'm going to be soaked all day at a water park.

That is exactly how I feel. I come to Amusement Parks to ride roller coasters, not water rides.

Someone mentioned this earlier - and personally I think it would be really cool (even though it most likely will not happen) if CP built a ride that went through a clear pipe into the lake. I just think it would be a different experience.

I'm cutting off your finger, no wait, your whole hand for that statement. Seriously.

Someone else please give him the pipe explaination, because I don't have the patience to type it all out right now. TIA.

Well, for one (and this isn't even getting into the technicalities with a pipe in water) Cedar Point doesn't own the lake. Not to mention the cost of doing construction like that and clearing up the red tape associated with environmental concerns. It won't happen.

Acually that's not the reason(though I think it is a decent reason). But actually, it just can run in the rain because of the advacement wheels (I dont know the exact term for them is). Basically the wheels that move the train cant grip the bottom of the train to move them forward or backwards if they're wet. You can tell when they squeak that they're wet.

As for the water comment. How would we know if water becomes a factor/feature of the ride? I'm assuming one reason would be if we see water pipes being installed. But I dont think they'd be installing them at this point in the construction. That's to say if its at areas away from the pond. And if that's true, what about the possibility of diggin a new pond(s) for a water feature?

Plus the drive wheels get wet and causes the train not to move

For the love of God people! This has to be the dumbest thread I have ever read, and I just read the whole thing from start to finish. All I can say is, this will be the last time I even look at this particular thread. Grady Out!!

I always thought they were called kicker wheels...

That's a great point, and even more justification for CP to install a water ride. You already come to CP to ride the coasters. There are probably families that would enjoy a nice, family-friendly water ride (similar to WWL in that there's no soaking interaction). And enticing them to come out to the park is exactly what CP is trying to do, among other things. Remember - families spend a lot more money in the park than most of us do.

Because those curved pieces really point to a family friendly coaster.

djDaemon's avatar

Those curved pieces have nothing to do with the point I was making.
