The possibility of changing some existing rides

I remember riding a Matterhorn type of ride backwards when I was at a fair in Sterling Heights a LONG time ago.. I think it could be done if they wanted it to.

^^ I agree it would not be safe at all to be ran backwards. Plus it would be unfortunate for the ride hosts who would be cleaning up many spills.

There are rides like the Matterhorn that can be run backwards (including the Flying Bobs, Rock and Roll, Schlittenfährt, and a couple of others). The Mack Matterhorn, though, the one that Cedar Point has, is not one of those rides.

Typically the ones that can go backwards will have a high-backed seat and a latching lap bar. The Matterhorn has neither.

Well, I'm sure if they modified the ride to MAKE it safe, they could run it backwards. :)

Doesn't Super Himalaya go both directions?

Not that I'm aware of, at least the past few times I rode it, it's never done that.

Cedar Point's [Himalaya] does not, but I think that version might be capable of it.

That's also a Mack ride, by the way.

^^ SchlittenFAHRT? German names for rides are always funny...........:)

I always enjoy Rideman's posts, he explains things in laymen's terms as to why things are done in a certain way and if they can't be done he explains the reasons behind them.

The only thing I wish they would change is to bring back the fog/mist in Maverick's tunnel. I know Tony said it wont happen, but we all know Iron Dragon and Mantis wont change types of trains. :)

And while they are at it, they should cut the capacity down on Dragster and bring back the spoiler and lethal wheels ;)

Heresy. Everyone knows that Toyota makes the most reliable vehicles that are completely impervious to failure. /sarcasm

The sad part is that my girlfriends Camry is on the list. I can't get her to drive it right now so I have been having to drive her appliance around while she rides in my brand new 3 week old CTS. I am not happy. I think she understands now that all companies have faults and none are above the rest.

I agree about the Dragster! They need to put the Spoiler And Killer Wheels back on it like it was intended to look like A DRAGSTER! not this thing of trains don't resemble anything.
I mean c'mon The theme of the ride is part of the whole experience!!
And as for the Maverick_ they don't even slow it down in the tunnel no more you go half speed and then zoom out of the tunnel no slowing down to a crawl anymore What's up with that?

RailRunner. First on Dragster the theming was removed for a reason, a very legit one if you ask me. One time of having the wheels fly off after a launch is enough for me to ask for them to be removed. I would rather not someone get hurt. Also, not having the extra stuff on the back decreases the chances of a rollback, thus shortening your wait time.

As far as Maverick is concerned I think it has to do more with which train you are on out of the station (first or second). I have found that the first train always zooms through because they want to start the 2nd train on the course while the 2nd train pauses in the tunnel because there is no need to get it out quickly.

It wasn't legit. The wheels could have very easily and securely been welded to the frame. Neither was done initially, and bouncing wheel was the result.

I guess you have me there. But what about the added weight causing the roll backs? Does that count?

Would it have been possible to have left the spoilers and only removing the tires. I never seen the spoiler/tires on the train in person just in pictures. It look(s) possible but maybe it would look a little funny.
