I have to agree with Jeff. Although the shape and location of the footers is puzzling, I just don't see how it makes any sense to pour concrete footers in early May and then build a large, ugly fence around them that will stand there for the rest of the year.
I guess the real question is whether or not Dodgem II had to be removed. If a ride of the size some of you have been speculating will be built, I think we know for sure it would be a 2003 attraction. So why get rid of Dodgem I and leave a plot of land relatively undeveloped for an entire operating season? It would seem to me that regardless of where Dodgem I went, that it would be kept until it was absolutely necessary for it to be removed.
My two cents...back to the shadows! :-)

That's the only explination for the footers being there so early in the season... Dick Kinzel found another ride where he said "We just gotta get one of these!"
And about a TA2k... Intamin's Xcelerator-type basically is a TA2k, just with a different launch system.... right? So it really could be either one. Or the currently plastic-covered sky ride. Speculation :)

Jeff, i'm not saying that there is anything being built on the island - I was just trying to come up with a plausible reason why they would have started footers already because it just doesn't seem to make sense. My question remains, does there appear to be any work done on the island at all over the winter?
But is CP really going to break it's rule-of-thumb and build two coasters in two years? That would be nice, but I think they have a strateogy they are going to stick with.
Maybe it will be a new flat ride, or they are going to move and existing one to make way for the 2004 addition. I haven't even been to the park this year, sheesh.

The most logical explanation for these footers I can think of would be a sky ride. But this leaves a question: Why would the construction for a sky ride start now? If it was to be completed in the season, Millennium Force would have to be closed(If the sky ride follows the sand piles)
Sorry Jeff but I don't think anything along the lines of food is going in. I could be wrong but what kind of restaurant is painted brown(why is anything painted brown) and has three(four?) footers in a relativly close area.
For all those expecting some sort of huge thrill ride, I think you will be dissappointed. Why would CP want a huge ride next door to Camp Snoopy and on top of the Comedy Boat Ride? Makes no sence to me what-so-ever.
I'm not convinced at all as to what it will be, if anything. But now I'm even more excited to see our new mystery and visit the Point!
P.S. Isn't that where the rock climbing wall was? I know this is a longshot but does anyone know about the construction of those?

I think that if it would be a lauched ride, that they would definitely go with Intamin rather than S&S just because of the possible capacity of the Intamin being so much larger. Also, I've heard that S&S had some problems with their really fast coaster in Japan.

Snoopy Rocks! On Ice starts June 22--Do you think they'll let me drive the Zamboni machine?
I want to drive the Zamboni!
I think (IMO) that because they had things planed out way ahead of time, they didn't expect another park to add so many coasters at once.
So they scrambled to get something new built for 2003.

RIDE IT OUT!
What about this?
Look at all the old sky ride cars on the island behind Snake River Falls. All the parts seem to be there. I can clearly see all of the uprights and the gondolas seem to be in good condition. Obviously they are smaller than the sky ride up front, but wouldn't it make sense that if CP salvaged this ride from another park and moved the entire thing to the park that they are going to use it? My theory...a smaller sky ride for cruising over the island from Magnum to MF. It is a smaller version that could easily be worked through the coasters that now occupy that are. Just a theory, but I have a good feeling that it may be closer to what is really going to go there. That would explain the pile of sand on the island as well as the large crew of painting contrator trucks planted next to the gondolas on the island.
