The Mysterious, possible footers

Another thought...

Why do these footers we see have to be for a tall section of a ride (if it is to be a ride). It may be a small turn. The reason they did it so early was maybe because during the end of the season, it dangerously close to the guests.

Also, it doesn't seem like a restaraunt is going there because it would be a full footer, not little footers. A ride is very possible.

Wow! That area is huge. I'm a little convined after seeing those xcelorator pics, but if you look at the line for those footers, they point right toward the MF plaza/Mantis area. This could possibly be station footers for a sky ride leading from that area of the park over to Magnum. Or as my brother said when he saw the pics, "that's just a bunch of dirt and a base for a light post." I guess only time will tell. :)

I say no way to a restaurant. At least no restaurant that follows normal protocol.

As far as not building two coasters in two years. My opinion is, and please don't flame me for this, is that WT isn't as big as a marquee ride that CP usually invests in. $9 million isnt a lot compared to what they have spent for MF. WT is a big enough ride to make a big deal and make the new ride cravers happy, but lets just say, for hypotheticals, that they didnt spend a ton of money on WT so that they could add yet another coaster. This would spring them ahead further in the coaster count game and make us all happy that we have another big ride. One thing for sure is that CP knows what they are doing, and keeping us in suspense is all part of the game.

Folks, you're making way too much of this way too early on! There are only a few facts that we know here, the rest of what's being said is speculation:

1.) There are 3 square things that look like footers in the middle of a big open space

2.) It's a construction site (Monty Jasper said so according to RGR!)

That's all we know. Let's not build coasters 16 and 17 just yet!

I hope they are footings for a cell phone tower or something, that would be too funny. CP did build an awesome new ride this year. There is more talk about the fence area than WT. What the heck. Just to add to the fun......the launch equipment is buried under the sand piles.

Those footers sure do have the right locations to make for some type of tower attraction. I just don't seem their diameters being large enough to support this idea though.

My money is on the idea that these footers are for the "coming soon" sign for the 2003 attraction! :o)

"Whose bright idea was it to get him talking about Cedar Point?!"

Here is a very very for fetched thought. Lets say if they do for some reason install a new sky ride like ride. Would it be possible for there to be two routes. One across to the Frontire trail. Then another route to cross over to the Old Frontier Lift Station. I don't think the rides have to be straight they could curve the second route so that it will make it past Mine ride. Does the old Frontier lift building still have the outfittings for a lift?

Just a thought. It may be a lot farfetched, but I think that it is possible.

Can we make reservations for the New Year's Eve "grand opening" party now?

Hey, I heard a rumor that Millenium Force is sinking...

So yeah.. I'm already breaking my speculation moratorium...

Does anyone think the footers might be connectable to a Intamin woodie?

The fenced-off area is much bigger than I thought. Is it me, or were a lot of trees cut down too? Based on that, I can't believe this is going to be a flat ride, restuarant or a little kiddy sky-lift. Those footers are huge. I think we're going to be talking about this for months.
Just because no one else has done it, I'm going to slap a bunch of names on hypothetical coaster #16. Which one do you prefer?

Backlash - The price you pay for messing with the best
Aftershock - MF shook the world, now here comes another...
Champion - Sure, it's a little retro and the Beast's original moniker, but hey...the shoe fits. Take that, coaster counters.

I always thought it would be cool to have dueling launched coasters set side-by-side with a drag racing theme. Give it a 50's theme and call it Grease Lightning (if it wasn't for PGA).

I remember more trees in that area too.

As far as putting an attraction on the island where people will physically be able to walk the island, I doubt that. Unless they make a permanent bridge of sorts for emergency purposes or have a ferry ready to take people across if the Skyride fails. Just a thought.

Two footers, 100' apart. I agree it doesn't sound like a restaurant. Just out of curiosity, what kind of footers are used for some of the Huss giant rides?

Things to keep in mind:

I think that the site will be a lot different come Friday when guests are back in the park. They have four straight days of uninteruption from park guests. They won't have that much free time to work on that space until September 3rd.

I saw orange spray paint marks around the area of the fence. I remember one being by the Magnum Midway across from the Witch's Wheel entrance where they normally have a Pepsi display. I saw one on the Paddle Wheel midway across from where they dock the boats. The third one I remember seeing outside the Joe Cool Corner Store. They do line up to make a triangle.

Getting back to what Scott said about moving Trokia and Chaos, if anyone noticed they made a permanant spot for the Dip and Dots stand that used to be on the across from the Corkscrew station, now its on the same side as the Corkscrew right next to the hat stand.

Anything is possible.

Keeping in mind seveal things I want to see a Wild Mouse. A Wild Mouse? Yes a Wild Mouse. Why? They won't build wood because its too expensive. They won't build a Thrust Air or Xlerator becasue they just built a launch coaster. They don't have a Mouse (heck there isn't a mouse in the state) I just rode the new one at PKD and it was a great, FUN ride. Just like WT they are going to build a ride that compliments the other 15. I don't think it will be a slingshot becasue if they were to do that they would put it in Challenge park.

Why all the dirt on the Island? Well they gotta put it somewhere.

Before Mantis was built, there was talk of that. My memory is a little hazy ... (checking Google ...)

Here it is:

"The map also indicates that a large, undeveloped island surrounded by the lagoons will be used for park expansion, including retail, restaurant, rides and attractions ... These are tentative, long-term ideas for development, Lifke said."

I just looked at the Huss web site. The technical specs for the giant rides show line art of the various rides. It looks like the supports are square at the bottom. The new footers have a round bolt pattern, easy to see if you zoom in on a footer shown in the pictures mentioned earlier. There are a total of 12 bolts. Anyone know of any rides that would fit that pattern?

It's very hard to drink all day...
Unless you start first thing in the morning.

Honest question- Do any Huss rides have 3 footers?

When I looked closely at the pictures from ThePointOL the "footer" that's closest to Magnum doesn't look to be solid. It looks like there's a gap underneath it, but could be the shadows. If this is the case, it's not going to be something heavy on top of it. I'll get back to you folks on that when we get better pics of it.

I'm not speculating on anything here, I'm only going to think about facts that we have. And those are still very few. Let's wait until Friday when we see if anything else has gone on back there.
