The Mysterious, possible footers

Jeff Said:

Give me a break. What does a footer two or three feet across have to do with a tower restaurant.
So are you willing to say that it is indeed a ride? I think it's time for you to use your handy-dandy encryption website like you did previously with Wicked Twister. I'm not saying I know what those footers are for, but I'm not convinced you know either...

yes it is replacement wood over by gemini plus and this was stated earlier in this thread Flat rides don't use footers, they use foundations.I have heard stuff myself but I am not going to believe any of it untill a press release has been made and it is official.

well....beleive it or not...i know that for a fact...maybe this is somekind of special flat ride...but to my knowledge its not a flat ride.

Ill try and pull up some pictures of some construction on some flat rides.

The Carnies are coming to Cedar Point!!

I do think the B&M Flyer idea is very possible. It would be so easy to have the highest, longest, fastest, most inverted flyer...something CP loves to market. I'm not saying this is what is going in Area 51, but I do hope CP builds a coaster in this spot to put to rest the theary that CP will never build 2 adult coasters in consecutive years.

I'm not saying any such thing, I'm only using a little common sense.

Laura, Nice work. It was interesting to read the replies.

As far as cement curing in 28 days, sure it will, but that is for your typical cement job. If you do any research on the Hoover Dam, you will learn that due to the amount of cement they used, it isnt supposed to cure for years to come yet.

Hoover Dam and a footing, even for a major amusement ride, are really incomparable, concrete-wise. Two major things extend concrete's curing time, volume and strength. Engineers (and architects) design standard concrete construction for a 28-day curing period...that is, after 28 days, the concrete has reached the minimum allowable strenth...3000psi, for example. After those 28 days, the concrete will continue to get harder and stronger, but it is not necessary. When concrete is poured in large volumes, or is encased in concrete, the curing time increaces, because of the chemical reactions which harden the cement. In special cases, designers need 'extra-strong' concrete...in which case they can either use more of it, or formulate a higher strength mix. These mixes take longer to dry, therefore the lead time on high-strength concrete construction can be 60-120 days. While Hoover Dam undoubtedly has volume and requires high strength concrete, I would bet a new, massive ride would require high-strength concrete for certain sections of the ride.

I went up to the Po!nt on Memorial Day and was told something. I would have posted it sooner, but my login wasn't working, anyway...I asked my friend who has worked there close to 10 years now if he had heard the rumors and he told me that it will be a 425ft. Intamin(when he said Intamin he was disappointed). And I replied back, "Oh yeah, they're going to take out Gemini(sarcasticly)!" but he said they wouldn't in a serious manner(which I already knew) and said it would "be over there though". I was very doubtful in this conversation until he started complaining about Intamin some more and when he told me that his team leader from 2 years ago was very liable. It was then when I believed him somewhat, especially since he didn't like the idea of Intamin producing it. I tried to think of what could go there that's 425ft. and by Intamin. My first conclusion was a launch since it doesn't look like there's a gigantic amount of room, but then there are many other possibilities. I thought of a giant version of Achrophobia, but left that idea. My friend then brought up the idea of it just being a huge looper, but it seems too crazy. I didn't really come to a final(or logical) conclusion, but I thought of seeing the day when a coaster travels thoughout a park.

Sorry if my believing him more when he spoke bad about Intamin didn't make sense. I believed him more when he talked bad about them because I know it would be total b.s. if he only thought wonderful and perfect things about them. Know what I mean? lol

What's so bad about Intamin? Theri coasters are all awesome.

Snoopy Rocks! On Ice starts June 22--Do you think they'll let me drive the Zamboni machine?

I want to drive the Zamboni!

Well, some say Intamin coasters are maintenance nightmares and their computer programming is a little less than realiable. I've even heard the CP Maintainence guys call it Maintainence Force, or MF (not a nice phrase) for short ;-P

Wow this almost beats "Magnum is sinking". Cmon you guys 425 ft!!! This is without a doubt a crazy rumor we wouldnt do this that quickly. I do say it might be a new ride but not another coaster from Intamin spanning 400+feet. Even Jeff I think would laugh at this one.

Greg

Hmmm, that must be an error because isn't Heide Park getting a 400footer in 2003? They have Heide Park listed as getting a 300 footer in 2004???? I don't buy the fact that CP would build a structure 400 ft and steal MF's thunder this soon. This Acrophobia rumor is nonsense because we already have one of the more impressive freefall rides in Power Tower.

However, I'm on the side that this will be a major ride of some kind... with Six Flags getting a Hyper and PKI tearing down King Cobra for probably a serious coaster.

I remember hearing somewhere that the +400ft coaster for Heide Park was cancelled.

YEA!!!!....thats true...i remember CoasterForce.com had the 400ft+ for heide park on NEW FOR 2003 before....then they put the 400ft+ coaster for a U.S Park....i'm pretty sure the information on that site is accurate and i don't think there is no errors.

The rumor of the abandoned Hiede Park tera going to a U.S. park comes from some cryptic and obscure comments made by Stengel weeks back, where he claimed he was involved in a 400-ft coaster for the U.S. for next year. I don't buy it.

Anyway, back on topic (like it really matters in this thread): We'll see in the next month if further construction begins on the site. If it doesn't, it'll probably be a coaster for 2003. But we probably will see constrution going again in the weeks to come.

Does anyone remember what time of year they started constrution on the short-lived VertiGo? Just curious, is all.

If I may, let me further strengthen my S&S TA2k argument from page 18 with one more little photo for you all to enjoy... The photo is actually a frame taken out of S&S's Fungee Video off their website. As the camera panned down from high a-top the Fungee tower, it picked up something quite interesting on the ground below... See for yourself HERE. *Edit -The photo may be clearer to see if you adjust the drop down menu above the photo from "Normal" to "Small"

It's pretty clear thats purple TA2K track, along with both purple and brown supports. Now, in all fairness, that could be going anywhere... But my guess has always, and remains to be, that it's going to Cedar Point. Just imagine how the brown supports would blend in with the trees as you travel through the dense forest of the Island, while the purple track would really stand out.... And remember, Cedar Point doesn't have a purple coaster.

It will only be 420 ft and it will be built by S & S.
Well, this is the craziest stuff I have ever seen. Why in the world would you guys put any stock in what someone that makes $6.75 an hour has to say? Those people all like the attention and would tell you it was going to be a 1,000 foot coaster just kicks.
