^Greg, I couldn't count the number of people I rode by this year that wore flip flops. I tried helpin you guys out by warning them that they would want to take them off before they put down the restraint, but half the time, they didn't pay attention, only to have one of you come around and tell them that you had to put them in the bins. C'mon folks, it isn't even basic physics, its just common sense.
Thank you so much for understanding how hard it is. I have to agree with Greg too, the load time would be alot faster if people put their stuff in the bins. It also helps when everyone goes to the right seats.
As for physically demanding rides, Sky Ride is very demanding. Catching cabins that weigh about 2 tons loaded. So are the car rides, there is alot of running involved there in the summer. The cars are also very heavy and don't go in reverse. You have to put them on a dollie picking up the back of the car in order to move it at all. Then push or pull it to where you need it. Cadillac Cars is a little harder then Antiques though. Antiques you can drive the cars right onto the track since there is a transfer track on both sides of the station. At Cadillac Cars, you have to pull the car back and put it on behind the station. It is really hard to get the hang of it at Cads. The train is not as demanding, only if you are in the engine house. The actually train crew doesn't do that.

Well, 2 tons is an exaggeration. They're more like 1 ton ;) (2000 lbs)
Just going by what I have been told. But I must have gotten it wrong. I couldn't remember exactly.
Raptor is amazing. I loved working there in 2005.

I've worked many rides in the park and I assure you Magnum is the hardest to work. I'm certin that most of the employees around the park would agree.
I believe that Mantis if probably the hardest. Its really easy to get an operation for not only a seat belt but also a low seat or a high seat. Guests that don't want to stand up right also cause huge problems.

OldCPer, I'm not dissing your dream job, but when I started this post, I never thought someone would say landscaping. Now that you mention it, I would have to argue that Landscaping might be one of the toughest jobs to have in the park. The park is beautiful, but I know they put a lot of hard work into it. Good luck with your retirement and I'll see you around the Park!
I'm too sexy for my harness!
I had an office job. It had it's own special set of perks. I didn't have to be out in the sun all day, and got to chill out in air conditioning, got to talk to ALOT of different people. It had alot of drawbacks too, I didn't get to spend a ton of time in the park due to long hours, and it could be really stressful. Especially mid season when my phone's ringing and there's people calling me on the radio and people in the office for their paychecks. But I'll probably do it all over agian next season. I miss it already!!!
I can't imagine bypassing a chance to spend a season at the park working as a ride op. Some of the best memories of my life are from my time spent there. It's one of a very few select jobs that allows and encourages you to be loud on a microphone to a large group of people, what more could you ask for?
