^Greg, I couldn't count the number of people I rode by this year that wore flip flops. I tried helpin you guys out by warning them that they would want to take them off before they put down the restraint, but half the time, they didn't pay attention, only to have one of you come around and tell them that you had to put them in the bins. C'mon folks, it isn't even basic physics, its just common sense.
Thank you so much for understanding how hard it is. I have to agree with Greg too, the load time would be alot faster if people put their stuff in the bins. It also helps when everyone goes to the right seats.
As for physically demanding rides, Sky Ride is very demanding. Catching cabins that weigh about 2 tons loaded. So are the car rides, there is alot of running involved there in the summer. The cars are also very heavy and don't go in reverse. You have to put them on a dollie picking up the back of the car in order to move it at all. Then push or pull it to where you need it. Cadillac Cars is a little harder then Antiques though. Antiques you can drive the cars right onto the track since there is a transfer track on both sides of the station. At Cadillac Cars, you have to pull the car back and put it on behind the station. It is really hard to get the hang of it at Cads. The train is not as demanding, only if you are in the engine house. The actually train crew doesn't do that.

Raptor was so much fun with a good crew!! Unload side is the best and UNLOAD 3 is the best position ever! You high clear and then you get to dance to the queue music...which is amazing...hey raptor crew...what did we build this city on?!?!?

Well, 2 tons is an exaggeration. They're more like 1 ton ;) (2000 lbs)
Just going by what I have been told. But I must have gotten it wrong. I couldn't remember exactly.
Raptor is amazing. I loved working there in 2005.

i'm pretty sure that would be ROCK AND ROLL!!!
it never gets old.
Most coasters are great to work on. The time flies by and it's almost impossible to become bored.

The only one that is really boring is Wicked Twister. At least I think so. Some of the others can get boring if they aren't running all of their trains though.

I've worked many rides in the park and I assure you Magnum is the hardest to work. I'm certin that most of the employees around the park would agree.
I've always thought the same, Ben. Working that ride for a summer seems like an upper-body workout marathon.
Brandon
I don't think Magnum is that hard to work. You have to move quicker than at other rides, but the work itself is really kinda easy.

I believe that Mantis if probably the hardest. Its really easy to get an operation for not only a seat belt but also a low seat or a high seat. Guests that don't want to stand up right also cause huge problems.

Upper body? If you dont put your legs into it those cabins will run you right over. It's a full body workout at the least ;)
My dream job would be working in Landscaping. I still have hopes of retiring from my present job in 3-4 years and then get a seasonal job in landscaping at CP.
I'd rather die living than live like I'm dead
OldCPer, I'm not dissing your dream job, but when I started this post, I never thought someone would say landscaping. Now that you mention it, I would have to argue that Landscaping might be one of the toughest jobs to have in the park. The park is beautiful, but I know they put a lot of hard work into it. Good luck with your retirement and I'll see you around the Park!
I'm too sexy for my harness!
I had an office job. It had it's own special set of perks. I didn't have to be out in the sun all day, and got to chill out in air conditioning, got to talk to ALOT of different people. It had alot of drawbacks too, I didn't get to spend a ton of time in the park due to long hours, and it could be really stressful. Especially mid season when my phone's ringing and there's people calling me on the radio and people in the office for their paychecks. But I'll probably do it all over agian next season. I miss it already!!!
I can't imagine bypassing a chance to spend a season at the park working as a ride op. Some of the best memories of my life are from my time spent there. It's one of a very few select jobs that allows and encourages you to be loud on a microphone to a large group of people, what more could you ask for?

I want to be at Magnum in '07. I LOVE fast-paced coasters, and unlike MF... at Magnum I won't have to worry about... LGs :)
Californian in Ohio
'10 - TL Magnum XL-200
'09 - ATL Top Thrill Dragster
'08 - Magnum / Corkscrew crews
'07 - maXair / Magnum crews
'06 - Wicked Twister / Skyride / Millennium Force crews
I would definately pick Wicked Twister. Love that ride and looks like a great coaster to work on. But if i couldn't get that, i'd go for Dragster or Raptor.
