THE ESSENCE OF CP?

I like my spelling better. It's way cooler than yours.

I think the thing I miss most of Cedar Point is a noise that hardly anyone has heard. I love more than anything, the horrible sound the motor makes on Sky Ride when it is first started. It sounds like its going to fly apart and never work again. It's hard to really describe. But it goes from that, to a low pitch steady motor, then when it speeds up, the pitch goes up. I don't know, its really quite amusing to me for some reason. I should record it and use it for my computer's boot sound. But yeah, I love the sound, and when someone hears it for the first time, they often ask if its normal.

It sounds like a pissed off beast groaning while it is waking up.

It makes this sound because of the motor control on it. High tech inverter drives on AC motors didn't exist when the ride was built. While the later makes an annoying high pitch noise, it has good motor braking.

Don't remind me of that sound. New sound though developing throughout the last 10 years. TTD, PT, Millennium, a hint of Mantis hidden. Way different than when it was just Magnum and Corkscrew making the loudest sound.

t_biggs, I still can imagine the sound of the motor starting.

Even though I was there for a month and three days, my memories would have to be of me and my friends and coworkers in commons laughing and joking about our day. Then it was off to Club X to party. Inside the park my fondest memories are the sound of the Magnum going up the lift hill and smell of the lake. Another would be the employee shuttles and how everyone would rush to catch it so they wouldn't be late for work. Those are some good memories.

Welcome to Mantis the only stand-up roller coaster in the state of Ohioer, this is not a sit-down roller coaster, if you want to sit down then their is the I-ron Dragon over to the left and across the midway is Milliunem Force.

I also agree with the posting about Frontier. I have only been to the park as a guest, but I always get in the longest line as the park is closing (usually Raptor). When I get off the ride, most of the other guests have left. I always make a lap or 2 around frontier trial/town. Its very peaceful.

Even though I hated more than anything to climb to the middle of the Giant Wheel 3 times a week. My favorite moment would be setting up there when the sun was coming up. I'd finish workin on it and watch the sun come up over Lake Erie with Wicked Twister in the scene. I have pictures... so pretty, and calming.

I do love the views from the Giant Wheel, and Magnum XL, Cedar Point would make just off those two attractions for the views that they offer.
