Terror Island

Nope...criticizing the park is "my" job. Of course, when they do smart things, I compliment them. As a former employee I get to run my mouth about the boneheaded stuff as well. CP has no duty to hire or keep hired bloggers, but they cannot censor anyone. Plus, they have to figure out who you are...God Bless the internet!

As someone who worked in PR for a sister park I must say having employees with an interest in the company is not such a bad thing. It seems the screamsters care about their jobs and about feedback.

While Tony may have the right to threaten them, it seems quite unneccessay unless they were saying something negative.

Seems the park is doing well when it is able to find so many talented people for short term employement. Great work guys!

Between the information retained here and the context of posts, there is often little anonymity.

This is hardly the first time a seasonal employee has been reminded to be careful. It's not a new idea. There have been people who have lost their jobs over the years because of what they posted on PointBuzz and/or elsewhere.

There's a common sense line between merely participating on an Internet message board and doing something out of line. Granted, there are times when that line might be a little harder to define. If in doubt, I would think it's better to not post. But, you know, if you're trashing your boss or complaining about policies in a public forum, you can't expect good things to follow. :)

Time to jump in. Nobody at the park (including myself) is threatening anyone for voicing their own opinion. In fact, we encourage things like compliments, criticisms and, as shown in this thread, a little bit of pride.

However, this may be a little clearer: while anyone is employed at Cedar Point, they are an ambassador for the park. It doesn't matter if they're a full-time employee, a sweep, a ride operator or a landscaper. With that said, there are ways to communicate your pride, your kudos and your desire to improve without negativity.

Nobody is telling anyone not to post on message boards. Even though the park discourages it, it's not illegal. The big rule of thumb is, anything confidential (happenings in the park, details on ride downtime, future attractions, and a host of other things) or official (announcements, policies, etc.) should only come from an official park spokesperson if it's to be released publicly.

If and when you do post, and if you're still an active employee of Cedar Point or Cedar Fair, the above rule applies - just as it would in the park, in the dorms or at an employee event.

If your job at CP is the most important thing to you in the entire world, it's probably best to just not post at all until your career at CF is over. If you are going to post, just use some common sense.

TedFuzz. No longer manually signing posts. Too bad. =(

Thank Tony for the clarity.

I was really unexpectably pleased by the dedication and performance of your screamsters. I also find it nice to see them write on here from their side. Most often this appears to be in the form of giving guests a heads up on what not to miss, etc. Recommendations are nice from them.

I agree that there are a multitude of things that should not be written about on here. There is a confidentiality content to their contract with you and I respect that.

So far what I have read can only help cedar point. The worst I see is someone commenting that they agree a ride choice is not the best, etc. Personal opinions about say locations or rides are also pretty non controversial.

I can see however where a conflict could occur and can see why you would want to lead staff the right way before they make an error in judgement.

I do look forward to seeing more of them at both the point and on here. I find this all very interesting.

Anybody notice Tony's sig? ;)

Ok I have a question. Say your working for the Point. After work you go to MCdonalds for a late night snack, and you see B&M track being delivered. Can you post what you saw?

as with my character in costume, i am not afraid to say what i feel. i'm a very outspoken person and i call them as i see them. to reiterate ONE MORE TIME...
i do use common sense and am careful NOT to say anything that is inappropriate. i HAVE had experience with other employers and i DO know that i am an ambassador for CF. i love my job as a screamster and i wouldn't do anything to knowingly jeapardize my employment. i do however love to see the feedback and to show pride in my job. and for those of you who are judging ppl who post based on what they say on PB, you really need to get out more. the whole point of anonimity is that you know nothing about the person, simply their views about a certain topic.

so what did you PB mongrels think of us on columbus day? i haven't heard a whole lot.

I thought we did a pretty good job the whole entire weekend! We need to keep it up and keep scaring. Only a few more weekends left untill the fun is over unfortunately. Maybe put some things to good use... right Yarbles? hahaha.

You guys did a great job! I jumped and screamed often.

I can not see anything on terror island which is good and bad. Good for atmosphere but I took a look at the pics when I got home and see I missed a lot.

Everyone on the island was kicking butt this weekend! I moved some people around to new areas that I thought would better emphasize their strengths and encouraged everyone to work on character development. I think it really payed off, as everyone seemed to be getting better, more intense scares and some of the best characters were even better, while other awesome characters have started to emerge. If you've been through the island before, definitely come visit us again. I think you'll like it. :)

And then one day you find ten years have got behind you
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun

oh and lets not forget we would all like to hear feedback on our zones not just terror island, but since this is a terror island thread I understand

Last night the only scare zone that made me jump was Club Blood. Terror Island, nobody tried to scare us at all. They would just walk past and look at you but nobody jumped at us or screamed in our ears like good haunted attractions do. There was barely any fog too which disappointed me. Last year I remember the whole peninsula covered with fog. Now the scare zones aren't even covered.

Maybe I just went on a bad day. If they aren't better next week I'm going to skip them and go ride Maverick. I'll stick to my local haunted houses/cornfields they actually scare me. . . .

I think it may have been the day you went on because last Sun I could not see anything on Terror Island. However I had been in fright zone the previous week and it was all fog. Last Sun it was less so.

It all depends on the wind. It doesn't matter how much machines you have if there is a stiff wind that quickly pushes it out into the middle of Lake Erie. Last Sunday it was calm, which is why the fog was fantastic.
