I'm not really all that into the scare zones. I'm more excited to get to walk in an area of the park I've never gotten to before.
My author website: mgrantroberts.com.
I think it depends on how much of a show they make it. I think if they work on having characters and not just guys jumping out at you, it'll be cool. Millennium Force will be distracting. I'm curious too how the fog will hold. (Oh, and MF will be in the dark, by the way.)
One thing walking through there reminded me of, and I haven't thought about it since I was out there in 2000, is that I don't see why they clear-cut the interior of the second island turn. That area is pretty enormous and it feels so open out there.

Did they have to clear it in order to position a crane and have a work area when they were building it? I don't remember the construction pictures but I assume they didn't swing those parts over from the Frontier midway.

I have a theory as to how they came up with the pirate theme for Terror Island. When they decided to move the Haunted House on Boo Hill to the location of the former Pirate Ride, they couldn't store all the old props in the building any more and needed a place to put them. :) Seriously, though, I wonder how many of the props on Terror Island will be from the old Pirate Ride.
On a side note, I hope I get a chance to ride Millennium Force with all the fog on Terror Island.
I had a question. Can you Enter Terror Island on Sunday since the park is only open until 8pm instead of Midnight? I was just curious because I'm going on Sunday.
Terror Island does not operate on Sundays, except Oct. 12.
From halloweekends.com:
"Arrrrrrr you brave enough? Land-lubbers can walk the plank onto this newly-discovered island of pure piracy. Meet the motley crews of sunken ships from the past, left deserted on this island. But mind yer steps – they’ve been waitin’ for rescue for over 100 years.
Located just off the Gemini Midway at the former Paddlewheel Excursions.
Open Fridays & Saturdays at 8 PM
(Also open Sunday, Oct. 12)"
I did Terror Island tonight and enjoyed it. It was especially cool to have gotten to do it on National "Talk Like a Pirate Day". Arrrr.

I thought it was just OK. The place is too big for the number of scary people they have running around. A couple of places are too wide I think, and the fog doesn't hold very well. They probably need to be mindful of the places where the path sinks off to the side too, or someone is going to twist an ankle.
I think it's a good idea, but they need a great deal of execution tweaks.

I thought it was pretty cool myself, along with cornstalkers. I have some videos (in the dark) of cornstalkers. You can see a little of whats going on.... I will be uploading them today.
To note though I have not been to any other fright zones but CarnEvil, Cornstalkers, and this zone.
I do think CarnEvil is better this year rather than last year.
Just did Terror Island and really enjoyed it. I will echo that it's too wide in places, but overall the fog stayed pretty well tonight. Best part was watching Matt get scared like a pansy!

next weekend 9/26 Terror Island will be staying open until 1:30
Does it say that somewhere on the website or was it advertised at the park? I can't find that info anywhere. The park hours on the main site and the Halloweeknds site both say midnight. It seems like if they were going to do that, they'd want to do a better job of making people aware of it.

Well KI Haunt stays open until 1am on Friday and Saturday so Im not suprised to see CP trying to push the envelope. Its also a great way to get more people to stay the night at a resort.
Last night was the first I'd heard of these plans. I haven't seen or heard anything about it actually on the site or elsewhere. Though they let us know about it last night before heading out into the zones, but yeah I'd agree they aren't doing a very good job of letting people know about it and I'm not sure how exactly it's going to work.

Does anyone know if CarnEvil's size is a bit larger this year compared to previous years? I'm guessing so, it seems like the area would be a bit bigger than before. However, maybe I'm wrong. It doesn't really matter, I'm just curious. Cool idea to see that Terror Island will be open later as well.
Looking forward to all the new stuff. Hopefully the weather will be good when I visit towards the end of October, last year was perfect! Seems like an exciting year for Halloweekends. :)
I totally disagree. The length and width of Camp Snoopy is tiny compared to the area from what is now the Planet Snoopy entrance all the way around to Chaos. And that's why CarnEvil doesn't suck this year... it's a far more controlled and intimate space.

^I agree. CarnEvil is a lot smaller but it is is the best zone this year. At least it was two weeks ago.
The reason no one can find anything advertised about the extended hours is because it's for employees only, it's like a ride night except it’s the haunted areas...not open to the general public. Different areas will be open late on different weekend so that even screamsters can experience the halloweekends.
^ Exactly. Everything still closes to guests at midnight.
As for the island, I greatly appreciate the feedback. I told all my Screamsters on Saturday night to check this website during the week for feedback and criticism so they can use it to improve their performance. I'm personally very happy with how the zone has shaped up in these first 4 nights, but my goal is never stop striving to be the best we can be.

I got a chance to come out to Cedar Point this past weekend and I must say the new additions are great. CarnEvil's new spot is a lot better, it may seem bigger but because of how narrow and all the tents it gives the perception of it being longer. Cornstalkers was great and so was Club Blood. I went to Terror Island first and was one of the many that stood in the Paddlewheel line waiting. It was nice to see they had a Screamster in there talkng to guests keeping them entertained. It was a first for me to see that line completely full and then a line from the entrance out to the midway. I did see a few monsters out there kind of walking around but that is expected. I know a lot of you believe they need to scare every single that walks in but it doesn't work. I've worked in different haunted houses for years and now I'm down in Florida working in some and you can't get everyone, because it's too hard, and it doesn't give a good scare. And I know they do use volunteers for some of the monsters throug out the park and so do we, and from experience with what we use, they are very hard to get to go the full time scaring. They don't see it as a job as the paid monsters do. I think Terror Island is an amazing zone and am glad to see they made use of the island, and Millenium is an added feature. But Millenium also appeared to draw alot of coaster nerds there that stood in the paths watching the coaster. Which also ruins scares depending on where they stand, because if a group sees people standing in an area that happens to have monsters, they tend to be more ikely to notice them, or the ones watching the coaster can get in the way, which i did see happen a few times. But the zones all will get better, and I wish I could come back up to go through again, but all in all I thought the production was put on extremely well, I guess you have to be in the business to understand what all exactly goes in to putting on a show like this, and how hard it actually is to get people that are shy or scared to make fools of themselves deliver night and night out. Keep me posted up on how the zones progress through the year, and good luck to all the workers that put it on that are on here reading.
