support color?

The color of the wheel paths on the red track is brown. I don't think that necessarily means anything, but definately interesting to see.

The wheel path color surprised me. I'm not sure I've ever seen an Intamin with any wheel path color other than white/light gray. It would seem to me that this was done for a reason. It is much less noticeable on the track, so I'm guessing that the color scheme of this ride is not red, white, and blue.

I agree but I say blue and white supports with red track to go with the americana feel like skyhawk. Maybe the whole area will have a kind of patriotic thing happening:)

Maybe it is the fact that I'm color blind, or maybe it is because I'm getting old....but....

When you start obsessing about the support colors of a rollercoaster I think you need to seek out a 12-step program.

I really hope the supports aren't white. It seems like it's a lot harder to maintain any ride when it's white; it shows everything.

Wouldn't that just be the color of the primer?

I'd like to see a very outstanding blue such as S:ROS

If you're painting something red, you use red primer. That's pretty simple :)

I agree with Wahoo - Who cares what color the supports are going to be at this point?

Yeah, I just want to see some, regardless of their color.

We all know that many Intamin coasters have white wheel paths. It would seem to me that the wheel paths have the most "damage" done to them throughout the operating season because it is these parts that come in contact with the train. The wear and tear can be seen in these pictures:

Now, if it were me designing the ride (and it's not, so maybe I have no clue), I would want the wheel paths to be covered with something besides primer.

Brown to fit the Frontier Town theme or black for an evil outlaw that goes on a rampage. Just my 2 cents.

I believe somebody asked Sandor about the wheel stripes during a CoasterMania Q&A a couple of years back, and the answer was pretty cool. I can't remember for the life of me what it was, though.

I think primer is sufficient, to be quite honest. Look at the B&M coasters (such as Dominator) on which the rails remain unpainted:

Yes, you're right, the rails on many of the B&M coasters don't have any paint/primer on them. However, many of the B&M coasters that have received paint jobs have had the rails painted.

Take Raptor, for example:

As can be seen in the 2nd photo, there's a significant amount of "wear and tear" on the rails, even after they've been painted. I realize that on Raptor, the rails were painted so that there wouldn't be "rust water" falling on people on the way up the hill after (or during, for that matter) a rain storm. But Mantis started out without painted rails, and now they're painted. B&M doesn't build coasters without painted rails anymore, so there must be a reason for that.

Edit: I looked on Dave Althoff's website, and in 2001, Sandor was at CP for Coastermania and I didn't see any questions regarding the rails. Yeah, I was going to mention the re-paints.

Maybe the reason is rust, but primer does the same at stopping that.

Who knows, though. Maybe B&M would build a coaster without rail paint, if a park wanted it?

Do you mean Intamin?

No, we were talking about the B&M rides that used to have no rail paint, and then all of a sudden all the B&M rides have rail paint. Basically, we were just speculating on whether there was a reason for this.

Any of the pictures I see the track is all red, however there is the illusion of discolouration due to reflections from the grass or shadows. I would think that most of the white marks would gradually occur as the ride operates:)

I could be completely mistaken here so be easy on me!!
