Subway at CP

But then you'd be eating at Chick fil A which I won't say is wrong, but maybe more like incorrect.

But it's delicious...

I guess the $5 footlong Subway advertises does not apply? I am surprised Subway even lets CP have a store there if they make up their prices. They probably skimp on the meat too......

Remember, specials are for "Participating Restaurants"

I too love the aroma of the Subway bread, especially the plastic additive they use. There was a story about this recently and I believe they will stop using that additive, I wonder if the bread will still smell good or was that burning plastic I used to smell? Eat Fresh!

Can you imagine what a Cinnabon is going to cost at CP? :)

A ton.

Its crazy because if you go down to Universal for example, prices are not that bad. Large soft drinks are just over $3 I believe, Cinnabon's are like $4-5? Overall, food options are great as well as the prices.

Cedar Point on the other hand has probably the highest priced park food (and the worst at the same time). They keep buying into more and more franchises, as they can't seem to actually make anything decent themselves. They had donut time which was fun, but now we see what happened to that... Stupid IMO.

This is why I don't eat at the park though... So it does not bother me much :)

That wonderful Cinnabon aroma is going to be awfully tempting, especially in the mornings. Luckily, we usually stop at the Commodore Perry Turnpike Plaza on our morning drives to CP.

I'm just thinking out loud, but I wonder if Cedar Point's struggles with in-house food over the years has something to do with being seasonal. Every year, a brand new batch of people to train, sometimes for the first time. Even for the chains, you're talking a chain restaurant with the same level of employee. This is one reason I'm nearly always so impressed with the ride crews at Cedar Point. With a few exceptions (bad days, perhaps?) I'm am very, very rarely less than completely impressed with the ride crews at Cedar Point.

But I digress. It's hard, if not impossible, to be "great" at everything. I've probably posted this at least 58 times, but "great food" has never been an expectation of mine when visiting Cedar Point, so I suppose it simply matches my expectations, and my panties remain un-bunched.

I'm looking forward to trying some crab fries.

I hate the CP food, and I don't buy it, save perhaps a refillable mug with the $.99 refills.

The food is of very low quality, mostly unhealthy, and very high priced. Rather than complain about it, I just vote with my wallet. This is another reason I really love staying in camper village (OOPS lighthouse point!). I can cook even the most complex meal of high quality at a low cost in my RV, all for taking a 5 minute walk out of the park.

Now, if I was somehow captive to the CP food, I'd have something to complain about.

We have the same voting system. :)

A snack here and there throughout the day, but "meals" can wait.

I can't imagine ever being hungry enough to be 20 dollars for a footlong Subway sub, but to each his own.

I don't find the food at CP that bad, incidentally...just not worth it money-wise. We're just not big "sit down to a big meal" people anyway, so it's snacks here and there and some Chet and Matt's at the hotel later.

I've often thought of that as well. Opening weekend is so hit/miss with so many of the services. I've even thought aloud with my kids, that Cedar Point should open the weekend before actual opening day. Have a full staff, (food/merch/games/hotel), just as for a busy weekend. The weekend would be just for pass holders, and all the offerings would be at reduced prices. This would help to streamline opening weekend, as the crews have had a real life trial run.

Ask anybody at Cedar Point and they'd probably say that's a bad idea. A crappy weekend at the official opening date or the weekend before is just the same. Besides, there's never a full staff that early in the year anyway. As evidenced just by reading the charming Employees Lounge section of this website, employees who reside on every part of the learning curve come and go all season long. A slow start is a given part of opening day in most seasonal businesses.

Does this mean the Joe Cool Cafe/Pizza Hut doesn't offer the same $10 any size, any pizza deal like they do outside of the park either? ;)

I've looked around out of curiousity and it appears that most commercially made breads have that chemical in them, not just Subway.

They are removing it, about time..

The additive isn't the addicting storewide smell, it's the Parmesan Oregano bread that they roll the bread in while proofing. it's smell goes everywhere and knows no bounds. Was a Subway manager..it goes EVERYWHERE..Could never get it out of work shirts.

Usually when I walk past a Subway it's the oil dressing and onions I smell. Yum.

No, I remember a buddy and I ate there. After we payed we half expected to bite into some golden nuggets. It's expensive.

I guess people are more than happy to fork out $15 for a footlong. CP and Subway are loving this.

I guess CP is reading all of this commentary, because they have just posted their group rate catering info/link at the bottom of the webcam page.
Charging $15 for a footlong (see other postings), and $15 for (get this, an all-you-can-eat) catered buffet offering - certainly indicates the general public is getting gouged.

Student-groups have always been offered things like this as long as I can remember. Even non-student small groups like the one I bring each year are offered different options like this.

No one is getting gouged, unless you're too dim to be cognizant that you may just pay higher rates for items that could be purchased at a much lesser rate outside the park.

Without all the shiny rides, of course.

If the park can't offer a menu like the student/group offering for double to cost to the general public --- someone is definitely getting gouged because it must be worth it to them in profits to provide the service and even advertise it.

Even the Meal Plan, which is purportedly "a deal" at $15/$32.16, doesn't come close with it's restrictions and exclusions.

The catered offerings include all-you-can-eat portions, salad, cookie, ice cream, and the drinks aren't metered at 20oz.

I will say that the "Meal Plan" has the funniest disclaimer though... "(must have separate admission ticket or season pass)" - as if individuals are coming into the park for just the food deal!
