Steel Vengeance

I’ve been following this Park since I was a kid. I remember begging my parents to go and waiting for the website to load on good old dialup when TTD came out. I finally made it the year Maverick came out and we started taking annual trips of a week in the campground. I think it’s tome to join the forums since I don’t think my friends can take it anymore lol... I have to give a shoutout to Matt O for what he’s done in such a short time. Rides like Disaster Transport had a weird charm to them because they were the antithesis of Disney. The transformation that has taken place is unprecedented. This ride is just the culmination of everything that’s been happening... Transformation while staying true to Cedar Points history. Combining the best of Disney and Cedar Point. It’s going to be a fun year and I can’t wait to see what’s in the pipelines.

The only thing it needed more of was this music. I always loved hearing it in the teasers. Hope to hear some of it in the park around Steel Vengeance next year. It could also possibly make good music for Tombstone Terror-Tory.

Yeah, I don't know why anyone would read this thread that's been hijacked with fury when the much more pleasant Drone Morality thread is just two clicks away ;)

If these trains are loaded in the same manner as Goliath at 6 Flags Great America, there is no way they are going to dispatch trains every 72 seconds to achieve 1,200 pph. 1,200/hr assumes every seat is full which they aren't too overly concerned about since Fast Lane was introduced. This ride should, definitely, have a single rider line like Goliath has. That way, every seat is filled like Maverick USED to be.

As far as the name goes, I actually like it, along with the logo. I think it fits the story well and Vengeance is kind of a badass term.

By the way, according to rcdb, there is not another coaster out there with Vengeance in its name so there will be no mistaking which ride anyone is talking about.

^Why don't they fill every seat since FL was introduced?

Goliath has a strange method of operation, along with almost every other Six Flags RMC. In what I assume is a reaction to the NTAG accident, you are no longer allowed to pull the bar down yourself (except at SFNE, which also doesn't allow rerides unlike many SF parks - fun fact.) As long as CP allows you to pull down your own lapbar, that will shave off some dispatch time. Even if they follow the rules that Six Flags does, Twisted Colossus manages respectable dispatches (with bins) by telling guests "you have 20/30/whatever seconds to sit down if you want to duel", etc. And let's not forget that CP in general has better dispatches than a Six Flags park.

Also, Goliath has bins, while given CP's recent track record, Steel Vengeance will not have bins, or any bins will be for the stowage of small articles and not bags (like Gatekeeper). Because it is a floored roller coaster there will almost certainly be no shoes to be put away.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 interesting how so many people badmouthed this coaster. It's old. Tear it down. Everyone hates it. It jerks you around too much. Obviously it's not a worthless old coaster or CP wouldn't be investing the money in it!

A lot of people wanted it to be RMC. RMCing it is basically a new coaster.

Can you tell me how this is going to ride anything like Mean Streak did?

Sure, it follows the same 3 lap structure, but there is literally no way that the two rides would be mistaken for one another.

Everyone basically did hate Mean Streak. Everyone is basically going to love Steel Vengeance.

Obviously it was a worthless old coaster or CP wouldn't need to invest millions to fix it.

That outburst from him was so random lol.

The most dangerous enemy is the one you don't know you have.

Silver Dollar City could only run one train on Outlaw Run because of the cyllander fiasco in 2016, and they were still dispatching every 2.5 minutes, including ride time and all that. CP operations will almost undoubtedly be better, so as long as riders can pull down their lap bars, there won't be much of an issue.

CP Top 5: 1) Steel Vengeance 2) Maverick 3) Magnum 4) Raptor 5) Millennium

So now that we have all the info, who is going to get to ride this first? I was not around at the opening of the other significant coasters TTD, Maverick..etc.. Do they typically have a charity auction for first rides or go some other route? I am sure there will be some media first rides or something and perhaps employee's, but I am talking about the public. I am sure many of you have some good ideas of how this will go based on the park history.

The employees get to have a ride night before the season starts.... provided the ride is ready before the season starts

GigaC, Maverick's former single rider line was replaced with a FL line. Maverick USED to run at 100%, most of the time, when there was a single rider line. Now, not so much. Cedar Point rarely ever tries to fill empty seats anymore. Take Valravn, for instance...after waiting nearly an hour in line, while I was in the front line row, they dispatched with 5 empty seats in the front row. They close the gates so fast now that there is no time for people to get past groups that are standing in the way. 7 or 8 seats were empty on that 24 person train.

But, I guess if trains ran at capacity, the demand for FL would probably drop since the lines would go by so much more quickly.

Are you certain it would have been more efficient to stop the loading/dispatch process to fill those 5 seats?

Brandon

Watch how many empty seats leave the stations at Cedar Point. Pre-FL, they constantly asked for single riders while loading trains. For all of the extra money they collect on FL, the least they could do is pay someone to help make sure trains are nearly full...but then, like I said, they'd sell far fewer FL passes. At least on Goliath, even with Flash Pass users, they still run it completely full, every time. Fast Lane at Cedar Point will not allow even close to 100% efficiency, unless they start following the Goliath system. On Maverick, they should have FL users merge at the bottom of the stairs with the regular line and let the right side of the stairs be for single riders, again. But, like I said, they don't really want trains running full.

Just last Saturday (the 12th), Dragster was down most of the day, but when it opened in the evening they were asking for single riders. The crew was on point (no pun intended) and I have never seen Dragster's line move so fast. The sign said 1.5 hr wait but I swear we got to the station in 45 min.

It honestly sounds like you have a bone to pick with FL, and as a result are viewing operations through a lens of predisposition. Aside from the existence of a SRL, I have not noticed any difference in the park's efforts toward efficiency. I have seen calls for single riders many times following the implementation of FL.

And anecdotally, I'm not completely convinced that calling for a single rider necessarily, in all cases, improves efficiency. I'd have to do the math, but at a certain point the time spent waiting for a single rider is long enough that they would be better off dispatching with a few empty seats.
